From the Pulse article The perception is that there's too much continuity for new readers. As a result, they're going to reboot completely from scratch, as if the book and concept was created in 2004. There are promised to be good, in-continuity reasons given in the Teen Titans/Legion Special due out October 6. A seven-page preview by Waid and Barry Kitson will set up the new continuity and universe and establish the tone. I am betting that the seven page preview will insist that all LSH continuities are still "out there." To do this, the preview will take us back to LSH v.2 #300, establishing that the relaunch is actually a new vision of Douglas Nolan.

In LSH vol.2 #300. Ferro Lad's twin brother, Douglas Nolan, was suffering from Alternate Universe dreams. He was searching for one in which he belonged. And eventually found it, in the form of him joining the Legion after his brother's death. Then he vanished.
It was Levitz's way of saying the Adult Legion story(s) exists out there, but it's not necessarily THE future to the Legion he was writing. Also, in that story, Shadow Lass[Woman] survives her fate of dying at the Science Asteroid.

You ask me, in the Titans/Legion special, the Fatal Five will find that powerful thing they were looking for a while back. It will have the ability to warp time and reality. In the process of defeating the Fatal Five, the Legion (and the Titans) will accidently wipe out the current timeline (or knowingly sacrifice it) to stop the bad guys from winning. Thus, the new WaKo era of Legion is born.

Waid referred to the "The Terminator" in his Newsarama interview. Going by that reference, it's possible that the current timeline is not wiped out as in Zero Hour, but radically reshaped by the same Hypertime catastrophe that brings about the Fatal 500. Hence, the events that occurred during and prior to the DnA run still happened, but the Legionnaires (not doppelgangers) have no memories of them because postboot reality has been diverted into another tributary of the timestream and replaced by a different mainstream reality. In the case of Colossal Boy, not only is he alive in the reshaped timeline but his racial heritage has changed, though not completely. Gim always had giant genes but didn't know it. In an alternate scenario, the Hypertime event that produces the Fatal 500 also brings about one or more alt-timeline Legions who join the fight. After the villains are defeated, the DnA Legionnaires merge with their alt-timeline counterparts (involuntarily, I assume), creating an entirely new and separate timeline that somehow co-exists with the DnA universe. It's also possible that the DnA Legionnaires are thrown bodily into an alternate reality, leaving the DnA universe intact but without a Legion.
