Hi guys! I'm back after a looong absence. (A couple of years. My dial-up got so flaky I had to drop it and it's taken me 2 years to bite the bullet & get broadband!!)

So after my 2-year "on-line" exile, I decided (like everybody else on the planet) to start a blog, http://ThePlanetaryChanceMachine.blogspot.com/ . It's still a baby (1 week old) and mostly for goofs. Stop by and check it out, if you're so inclined!!

Anyway, I was thinking yesterday that we really don't have an "official" name for the current Legion version, so I posted the below for half-funny/half-serious considerations. I figured I'd post it here too for a discussion topic.

So what's the deal, is there a standard moniker for our latest Legion? If not, what should it be?

OFFICIAL Legion Proclamation: It's "The WnK Legion"

Since there isn't an "official" name for the current Legion version, I hereby declare that all references to this version shall be indicated by "WnK Legion"TM for the following reasons (beyond the mere fact I say so):

1) It prevents conflicts over exactly how many versions there have been (i.e., is this the 3rd or 4th; does the TMK Legion count as a separate version?) and confusion with title volume numbers.

2) It avoids multiple names of this version from coming into common usage (e.g., Is is the TMK Legion, the FYL Legion, the PostGap Legion?).

3) It follows in the "DnA" style and provides a nomenclature for subsequent versions (Official nomenclature: creating author's last initial, "n", creating artist's last initial).

4) It preempts the coining of any derogatory names for this version (a la the "Archie" Legion).

5) It's easy to say: the "wink" Legion (Not to be confused with the "Twink" Legion; that's a very special screenplay I'm working on!).

6) Since I've trademarked* the name, I'll make millions!! (Bwahaha!!)

Lord Emperor QL has spoken!

Well, we had this discussion nearly two years ago now but I don't think we all ever agreed on one. Although I think WaK has become the preferred usage here.

Well slap my face and call me Sally!

That's what being in offline Elba for 2 years will do for you. I'm waaay out 'o touch!! I didn't mean to rehash an old topic.

I just read the old thread and you're right LL, there never was a final consensus, but it appears the topic was already well vetted.

If the current standard is WaK, then WaK 'tis.

Although I have to agree with those who pointed out that WaK makes you wanna say "whack".

And if we follow that nomenclature, I hope (for the sake of the nickname) Gail <blink>S</blink>imone <blink>a</blink>nd Adam <blink>D</blink>eKraker don't create the next Legion!! lol

Isn't it W an'K?

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Remember : It's not technically a suckerpunch if you yell ''DEFEND YOURSELF SPROCKER!'' two seconds before you let him have it.

I've always prefered using the first two letters of each creators name: WaKi (e.g. wacky)

Also, I believe as a whole the new era is commonly referred to as the "threeboot."

As I said two years ago:

WaK for the creative team.

v5 for the series.

Threeboot for the continuity.

I like to occassionally use "Indie Rock" Legion, such as when I'm contrasting it with the "Boy Band" Legion of the post-Zero Hour era, the "Grunge" Legion of the early 90s, the "AOR" Legion of the 80s, the "Disco" Legion of the 70s, or the "Groovy Psychedelic" Legion of the late 60s!

This almost begs us to make up new names for the earlier creative teams too!

Cockrum and Bates? Bates and Cockrum?
CaB Legion? BnK?

Hamilton and Anderson?

...what was the creative team on Superboy #247? Weisinger and who?

Adv. #247 was Binder and Papp, or BaP!

Nope. I like WaKi. It's more fun to say.

WaKi! WaKi! WaKi!

(sounds like: "Wacky! Wacky! Wacky!")

See how fun?

Your way sounds like somebody swating a bug.

Hardly any fun at all. Especially for the bug.
