It's out now. I thought about trying to pick it up to support getting the Legion more TPB's but I don't think I probably will be able to. I just wish they'd done Lost first since I don't have the full series. Is anyone going to pick this up? When I flipped through it in the store yesterday I did feel that the story seems better taken in one piece, despite it's "Floundations" rep.

I think the thing with Foundations is that it's going to be one of those stories that down the line I will look back on it and think it wasn't so bad. Like the V4 story with Mordru and the zombies. I didn't think much of it at the time but I can pull it out now and enjoy it for what it is. I think the worst thing about Foundations was that it probably shouldn't have been done in the first place since it's always going to pale in comparison to the Great Darkness Saga in my mind. There were also so many other things DnA could've used those issues for in order to cap off their run, like revisiting the Sharn Nux dangler or dealing with Cub. But for what it is, it isn't so bad.

I flipped through the trade I saw in my store to see if there was any new, bonus material to mert buying it. Hey, I don't have too much money to toss these days and already have the issues! Didn't see anything new and I didn't like the paper quality compared to the actual book, though I'm glad stuff like this is out for people who missed the arc or the Secret Files.

matlock: Which issues are you missing in the Legion lost run? I have duplicates of a couple of them I think.

I'll check this weekend and send you a PM or something. I appreciate the offer!

I can't believe DC didn't strike while the iron was hot on that one. I guess the world needed more Batman trades....

There can never be enough Batman or Superman product. Must be the first commandment of DC marketing or something. "CREDO!!!"

(mad about still not having an Atlantis Chronicles trade)

Not sure i have enough ready money to justify buying this, especially as I have the comics and am still trying to fill in the gaps in my Adventure run.

But

I did flip through it at the local CBS and felt that it read better than i remembered. Maybe it is one of those things I will get once i have the others?

I actually missed two issues of Foundations so I'm happy to see it. I can't afford it but I'm buying it next week anyway.

What the heck, with a little luck the sales numbers will support another TPB project for the Legion.

If the story would have matched the art in quality, I'd support it, but I already have the issues, I think I'll keep my money.

My review of "Foundations" got posted on SBC.com last Thursday:

To me, it's still a story arc that's desperately trying to be more monumental than it really is.

Well I bought it because this is the first time anything I've worked on has been in a trade, and I just think that's cool! Also gives me something to show friends and relatives who don't think I actually work for a living. wink
I'd hoped to buy more than one as gifts for my family, but heck, even I can't afford them.

If my work were in the TPB, you can bet I'd buy it, too.

But that would be the only reason.

I have to agree with the overall consensus -- with no new material and being a particularly listless story (IMHO) and my lack of funds right now for splurging: this is gonna slip through the cracks
i'll pick up that Best of Legion Outpost book and another Archives if i get a hunkering for more legion

What got me was how flimsy it felt. The cover wasn't a very good cardstock and the paper it was printed on wasn't that much better then the regular book. Let's come out with a Legion Lost/Legion Worlds TPB.
