X-STATIX was more a mid-to-low-line seller for Marvel during the final months, but it was a top seller for a few years there. I believe despite its dropping sales, Marvel would have kept Milligan and Allred on it if they could have. They were really proud of that book, for good reason. I miss X-STATIX terribly myself.
Fortunately, they are moving Milligan to one of the top-tier X-books. I'll have to check that out, definitely. I'm sure Allred could have whatever MARVEL book he wanted, but rumour is once he finishes his adaptation of THE BOOK OF MORMON, he's moving on to DC and the METAL MEN. Yahooo!

Did you guys enjoy the last issue of X-statix? I havent found many others fans of the series out there, and just wanted other opinons. Personally I thought it was a bit rushed, but still good. especially some of the dialouge between Tike and Guy
Tike> Who ARE these guys anyway?
Guy> Does it matter? Did it EVER matter?

Loved the last issue. Go over to the Dr. Gym'll's Cultural Rarities forum here, and do a search under X-STATIX. We Statix-Fanatix all had a good fun chat about the final issue and the series in general and you might enjoy reading the comments and adding your own! I miss this book a lot and still enjoy talking about it.

I believe he remembered that he was really Warlock. I don't know where he is now, though.

Back to Chuck and Tenzil - I always have believed any characters can be useful and interesting if written properly. The growng tendancy in the Legion during the 90's, up to DnA, was to boost the characters powers to make them more interesting. That's how we got Element Lad changing his body into elements, Apparition being three bodies, Star Boy with super as well as mass increasing powers, etc. This, IMHO, did not make these characters more appealing, but actually made them more confusing and took away from others like Ferro and Triad.
Any Legionnaire, including M-E- Lad, Bouncing Boy, Infectious Lass, etc. could and should be included in the new Legion if the writing can pull it off (a challenge, Mr. Waid).

Douglock was purified into his core form, Warlock. With the personality and memories of Doug Ramsey that Warlock absorbed through their constant melds. After his solo series was cancelled, he's currently bopping around marvel limbo with his friends hope and Psimon

I'm in agreement with Kid Q. Back in the Adventure days when I first began reading and getting hooked on the Legion, one of the things I loved most was the diversity of characters and powers.
You had the Super Cousins, Mon-El and Ultra Boy, and the newly-arrived Shooter four/threesome; electrical, elemental and solar powers on one end and complimentary super-intelligence, invisibility, phantom powers and duplication on the other end of the spectrum.
The reboot tried to graft too many things on to too many characters at once, and was a muddled mess (as if it wasn't a mess, period!)

Think of the marketing possibilities!
For Christmas, they can sell overpriced Bouncing Boy ornaments and Matter-Eater Lad nutcrackers. Year round, we get Bouncing Boy bouncing rubber balls and Matter-Eater Lad Pez dispensers!

I really like Legionnaires with limited powers. It requires that they work as a team to successfully complete a mission. It encourages writers and artists to come up with interesting interactions between characters. It means one member can't dominate the team all the time (hence the frequent use of green kryptonite during the Adventure era.) If Kid Quantum can do anything, it would make more sense just to publish "Kid Quantum and Her Super-Sidekicks." Oh, that's right, they already did that...
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"
