okay ..... but i don't know if i can only pic three !!! well here goes: 1. Stuart Immomen i think he drew a really handsome Jo, during his issues before "ZERO HOUR" came along !!! 2. Olivier Coipel i loved his version of Jo !! he just had the right balance of not being over-muscled !! and the hair and stubble looked so 3. Keith Giffen during his time on the book around the "GDS" !! the classic pre-boot version of Jo !! others to highlight: Ivan Reis in the "LEGION/TEEN TITANS" special !!! check out page 10 !! how cute !! Mike Grell for the sexy sunburns !! and finally Barry Kitson although i don't feel i've seen enough of his JO !! but i'm sure he'll be in my top 3 after the next few issues Matthew.

My favourite has to be Olivier Coipel's Jo who drew a great sexy, scruffy Ultra Boy. I especially liked the way Olivier drew his hair. I know exactly why Saturn Girl kissed him in Legion Lost.
I also like James Sherman's beefcake hotty Jo and Mike Grell's hunky side-burned Jo. Mike Grell gave Ultra Boy really sexy eyes too.

Dan Jurgens actually had the "cutest" Jo.

I like Barry's a lot. I liked Coipel's face but hated the long hair look.

Giffen (TMK) - the pontytail and whisps of hair worked. Giffen also gave him that pirate's smile
Chris Sprouse - he made them all look young and brimming with optimism but held back from making them too cutesy (like Moy, imo).
Olivier Coipel - the hair got a bit too Tarzan like, but he still makes top3 in my book.

You forgot Jim Starlin. Didn't he draw 1st installments of the "Jo framed for murder/Brainy's crazy" story? That Ultra Boy, and all the Legionnaires, really made an impression on me. They were powerful, sexy, and just a little dangerous.
...but you don't have a moment where you're sitting there staring at a table full of twenty-five characters with little name signs that say, "Hi, my superpower is confusing you!"

I'll ditto Matthew, but add both Sherman and the TMK Giffen to the "others" list.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I'll have to select (in random order):
TMK Giffen Sherman Immomen
If I can add a few more:
Coipel Lightle Grell
Incidentally, no one was intentionally left off the initial list - I just went for the artists I could think of.

Grell LaRocque(the Jo I was introduced to) Giffen
The Grell version while new to me(just got the Archives) is definitly my personal favorite. Gave him a hunky sideburned quarterback look that I like. Thom

oooooh, I envy you reading that early Grell stuff for the first time! Reading those as a kid made me a lifelong Legion loving lad! Lots of good stuff during the Grell days, from S/LSH 203-224!
As an adult, I realize Grell's art was hardly perfect-- LOTS of weird body perspectives and odd poses-- but as a kid, I thought he was DA BOMB before anyone knew what DA BOMB was. I Still do!

Okay, so what are your favourite Ultra Boy costumes? My favourite is the return-of-Giffen leather outfit (that was originally supposed to be black cloured--not greyish brown). My second favourite is the one (very similar to a variety of other ones) he briefly wore with yellow sunglasses for a few issues (sorry, I don't know the volume or issue; my comic collection is back in Toronto).
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

Grell for the beefcake, Coipel for a scruffy and genuinely young Jo.

I haven't ever been that interested in Jo-- looks, costume, personality, or storyline.
While I was looking through my DnA issues to refresh my memory re: Sharn Nux, though, I came across that picture of Tinya and Jo and Cub when they are reunited in the Med Center. (#14, p.21, last panel) Oli knocked that one out of the park.
