So, what's your opinion of Calamity King?

And what about Infectious Lass, Calorie Queen, and Lester Spiffany?

Kitson wrote that they were going to spotlight at least one Legion character every issue. It just makes sense that they would start with the good ones.

It occurs to me now that perhaps I should start worrying about Gates.

Gasp! Surely not! They wouldn't really do in Gates, would they?

Perhaps not knock him off, but 'port him off somewhere, never to be seen again.
But then I always think that, with a creative team change, any Legionnaire who didn't originally show up during the Adventure era is automatically at risk. (Come to think of it, I believe we once had a thread on that very topic.)
I figure Vi is definitely safe, though.

I figure Vi is definitely safe, though. Miner I hope your wrong. Gates was one of the best things to come out of the reboot. I mean lets face it with Gates as a character we get so many possibilities for story and character conflict. He fills the bill for the oft requested "non humanoid" Legionnaire. He was always portrayed as an outsider looking in on the team and making wise crack comments, His social background, home planet etc must make for some interesting back story. Not to mention how, if they want to make an albeit blunt point about embracing diversity and seeing past the skin to the personality within, then Gates is the one to use. Heck we could even get the old screaming girl at the big bad space bug start to a story.

Jeepers! First Gail refuses to comment on Calamity King, and now Barry!
Obviously indications of big plans for him on the horizon!

Or they are just looking out for their carrers. You'll note that no one who has currently featured Calamity King in one of their stories is currently working in the industry.

Wasn't Gates introduced by Waid in the first place? Hopefully he has a soft spot for the little eusocialist.

Are overalls in style in the 31st? Mekt always struck me as the stylish sort.

Oh, Mekt would probably look good in anything. But this farmboy does the overalls up nicely.

Very nice! Now, the important question is, what do you think about Kinetix and XS? Surely Mark Waid would not let such wonderful creations of his flounder in limbo, would he?

Might I point out that Calamity King is an Adventure era character? Yay!

I hope I'm wrong too, Faraway. And I agree about Gates. That "Teenage Death Squad" comment still cracks me up.
