Hi Guys Here we go for the first time a two part posting of scans! Here are the thumbnails I did for the cover     The brief was basically a full figure shot of Dream Girl imposed over a head shot of Brainiac 5 - as usual I threw in one curveball just for good measure

...and here's the cover from pencils to finished  This is the inked layer with Dream Girl on  and this a rejected version I did of the Brainiac head - something wasn't right about it...  this is the one I used for the actual cover  here's the cover in it's pencil state  here's a black and white mock-up I did of how I hoped it would come together  and here's my color mock-up Clicking on these thumbnails should take you to larger scans. Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing these Barry... I love seeing the thumbnails that lead to the eventual cover almost as much as the final works.

I've been trying not to blow too much smoke up Barry's keister, but that's some quality scribblin'. The Dream Girl pencils are indeed amazing.

Maybe, like the ringed hand on the table covers, this could be the model for future covers.
Let's see ... Garth and Irma, Brin and Projectra, Cosmic Boy and whomever he's obsessing over, Gim's big gay brother and ...hmmm those last two mightbe the same cover.

Fascinating genesis of a cover. Brainy's Dream Girl is gorgeous!
I also like his colored version of the cover better than the solicitation version.

This cover is very powerful and Barry's Dreamy *and* Brainy are marvelous.
$5 says Waid made mention of the classic Lightning Lad ressurection cover or a homage to it when ideas were floating around for this cover!
Also, very pleasing to see Kara not on a cover (and I'm in the pro-Supergirl in the Legion permanantly group).

The darker, broodier image of Brainy made me think of Vril Dox.
Amazng work as always Barry! Can't wait to see what happens in this issue!

Hey . . . . OK now this is just wierd looking, kind of like looking in the clouds and seeing shapes but. . . . Look at: Take a close look by Brainy's mouth and you will see what appears to be a "hanging person". wooo woooo wooo. Creepy. Was that intentional Barry?? LLLater!
