ok... I've been away for awhile... so the old series ended and now there's a new one coming up?! uh... why exactly?

I've been peripherally hearing about this and have been too afraid to get back entangled into the fold... but here I am... fill me in people!

The basic party line as to why is that Mark Waid had a take on the Legion that just couldn't take up where the Legion left off. Therefore the "re-imagining".

I have been trying to avoid reading too much about the new series so when it does come out I can read it fresh. So, I'll leave it for others to answer any more questions you have.

That's EXACTLY how I feel, Quislet. I've been trying to avoid reading anything at all about it before it comes out.

I actually got excited when they decided, after the "mess" years ago, to start over FROM THE BEGINNING, and for the first year or two was enjoying the LSH more than I had in years. (Then it began to fall apart, but that's another story.) But this time... I just cannot get exicted or interested at all.

EVERYTHING since CRISIS has been an "Elseworlds", in my view-- and the Post-ZERO HOUR "reboot", in the long run, I now view as UNNECESSARY. So with multiple multiple versions out there, if there was ANY "alternate" Legion I'd like to read about, it wouldn't be anything Waid is planning. It'd be the "REAL" Legion-- the one they stopped telling stories about after Paul Levitz left.

Hey--in the 70's, you had the JLA and the JSA on 2 different Earths-- why not a "current" Legion and the "Earth-1" Legion in separate books? (Or, just SCREW the redos, and just go back to the original timeline. We ALREADY have the ARCHIVES and the Action Figures to go with it!)

I don't think we know all the reasons for the "re-imagining". DC Comics wanted it and offered the job to Waid and Kitson.

I think this new version sounds GREAT! If it's even close to my expectations, I'll be quite pleased. I've liked just about everything I've heard about it to date.

So let me see if I've got this right... they've gone back to using the old school names of "lass" and "lad" etc. and gotten rid of all the old ones like Umbra (which I loved, though the pics I've seen of her latest incarnation aer OUTSTANDING!)

Yes, but there is at least one exception, which is Brainiac. (I'm not sure whether or not the "5" is present.) The Legion is also allowing "Princess". It may be that this naming convention will eventually fade to allow in the likes of Dawnstar, Blok, Wildfire, and Timber Wolf.

Well nice to meet you Ferro! Thanks for the info, I take it we don't know as of yet who's coming back and who is dead or from which timeline this is even starting up from... I hope tis time around we at least get to see Lyle meet a nice boy.

what legion era is your favorite anyway?

Which era is my fave... I have to admit to loving them all since they were all Legion related, but I grew up with Grell's incredibly hot Legion, and there's something about the post 5 year, all grown up legion that always intrigued me. Between its dRK, gothic feel and the reader's need to actually analyze the information and process it, I was hooked.
