That era of the LSH was heavy with coloring mistakes and annoying costuming errors (i.e., having a golveless character suddenly wearing gloves, etc).

lol she was a blonde for a lot of issues. i remember her being blonde as far back as SUperboy and the legion. she looked better to me as a blonde than red head. it gave her twiness something unique against Garth besides the ability to make things light.

Yeah. Being blond was a coloring mistake. She was always a redhead*.
*Unless somewhere they said she dyed her hair.

They did have her blonde for quite a while, so I don't think it was a coloring mistake. Or if it was, then it was one that lasted for a while.
No explanation was ever offered. Let's just say that she got tired of dying her hair.
They did get her hair really wrong in JSA #6, making her a brunette. That really annoyed me.

You know those 70's. It was all acid this and cocaine that. I think a colorist got it wrong and the editor never caught on. Finally, someone realized they'd been screwing up for awhile and changed it back.

Thank Valor that by the time Giffen became a regular, the colorist quit jacking stuff up. Something else else else that always annoyed me during this era was when Shady's abs would be colored dark blue, as if there was fabric there. We all knew she was going through her space-exhibitionist phase.

Well, I think of the coloring and costume detail art errors as canonical image differences for the characters. So, when they put Dreamy in... shudder... gloves, I cringe a little, realize that it's a mistake, and then try to come up with reasons why NuNu would wear gloves for a while, then switch to the wrist bands, then back to gloves again. It's fun!
Favorite Mistake... Jecky's fishnet mesh that was probably *supposed* to make her costume look less revealing, but actually made it hotter!

Oh, and Ayla is a natural redhead, same as Garth. She just wore her hair blonde for a long time because that's what Brin preferred.*
*Was that stated in the book? No. It's the reason I've personally assigned. However, notice that as Ayla gets tired of Brin, she changed her hair color back...

I thought I remembered Ayla saying she became a blond to further give her an identity seperate from her twin Brother. I wish I could recall where I read that. Whatever the case, she dyed her hair, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a coloring error (especially not lasting as long as it did).

I've never read it anywhere. I assumed it was a coloring error for a long time, until one issue the Emerald Empress (I think) called her a blond vixen, which really cheesed me off. She's a redhead, dammit! Oh oh. I just typed "Superboy." I owe the Siegels 50ยข. Oops. Did it again!
