Maybe the alien on the cover is one of the "deadly super-powered team." I expect wierd, all new villains at "the edge of the universe".
Why are Garth and Imra there, anyway? Exploring? Lost? Or just having lunch with Arthur Dent?
Cool creature and beautiful cover artwork, except for the coloring -- or lack thereof. Everything looks so grey and murky. This book cries out for brighter colors.

Gas Girl! Kid Psycho! INFECTIOUS LASS! Whee! And who's the guy beside Projectra? The re-imaged Timber Wolf? The dark-haired guy besides Cham...could that be Chem? There's also a Wilfirey/Ferroey-type of helmet under Gas Girl... This is so much fun! I have a feeling people around here are going to be VERY pleased.
Am I the only one who thinks that the pencils look quite a bit better than the inked version?
And I have two minor observations on Ultra Boy: first, I think I'm going to join the camp of the people who think his symbol is too skinny. What is it supposed to represent? The other thing... I think he looked much, much better with longer hair. It made him also different from everybody else.

I knew we'd begin to see old-favourite Legion characters show up eventually but by issue #5?!?
And such an interesting choice of characters too! Who would've thought Gas Girl, Kid Psycho, Infectious Lass and Calorie Queen would be among the first of the old faces to show up? I love it!
And that definitely does look like it could be Wildfire's helmet underneath Gas Girl and Dirk(?) for you Drake fans!
Salu fans take note too - there she is next to Gim's left cheek!
The dark-haired guy beside Cham is Thom but the big mystery is who the guy is beside Projectra. I bet that he's 'mysterious boots' guy from the preview who was also sitting next to Jeckie in issue #1! Just who the heck is this guy?!? Shadow Kid? Chemical King? Timber Wolf? Someone else?
I *LOVE* this cover. Its definitely my favourite of the series so far! And I'm still very impressed with that alien design. I can't wait to find out his story and hope he becomes a recurring character.
I echo Juan's thoughts about Jo's logo though - it is too skinny. It looked a lot better when it was bulkier. I completely disagree with him re: Jo's hair though. That long hair look he had is soooo last century. He really needed a change and I'm very happy with the new style you've given him Barry.

Wow! Much as I love the final cover, I wish the first image could have been the cover, too! Maybe it can be the opening splash page? Thanks for posting it, either way.
Kid Psycho! INFECTIOUS LASS! CALORIE QUEEN! GAS GIRL! Looks the superteam will be the Heroes of Lallor, though perhaps with a different name?
Could that mean that Ultra Boy's opponent is EVOLVO (LAD)? or Beast Boy?
And Shadow Lass looks beautiful there.

My attempt at identifying the faces:
Top section (left to right, top to bottom): Gim, Vi, Evolvo(?), Calorie Queen, Gas Girl, Garth, Wildfire (faceplate?)
Middle Left section: Saturn Girl, Timber Wolf, Brainy, Jan, Thom, Cham, Nura, a Dominator ?, Val
Bottom Right section: Infectious Lass, Jeckie, Condo!, Kid Psycho
Of course the two main figures are Shady & Cos with Jo battling Beast Boy front & center
