I'm a big fan of the guy cause he is NOT a kryptonian. He's a daxamiate and the one I knew was quite different than Superman/boy, etc.
Waid being a fan of kryptonians (birthright...ick) and Mon-El I can almost guarantee he will be called Mon-El when he shows up.
I hated M'onel trust me...but I liked Valor and Lar Gand.
Anyone else hope he won't have a Kryptonian name? I know i am probably in the minority.

I'm just gonna call him "Dave".

His name should always be Lar Gand and his code name could be Marvel Lad, although he will always be Mon-El to me

Le Mon--- he could be a reggae-obsessed powerhouse who favors the color yellow. He'd have Daxamite dreadlocks, ganja-flavored super-breath, and the uncontrollable urge to multi-task.
Little known fact-- the only music that can be heard in the Phantom Zone (or whatever it is this week) is that of Bob Marley.

The biggest problem with the name 'Valor': No anagrams!
This makes it impossible to integrate the 'Legionnaire Lemon' plot into Glorithverse continuity. I'm shocked the Bierbaums didn't realize this horrible inadequacy of the revised name.

Seriously, much as I like Lar, I kind of hope that he doesn't appear for a couple of years. Let's see the characters we've got operate with the more limited Ultra Boy as its 'big gun'.
In addition, let this year's DCU hoopla- whatever its form-- pass before further complicating Mon/M'on's already headache-inducing back-story.

I posted this elsewhere.... Perhaps "Mon-El" is Daxamite for "Superman"?

Marvel Lad is good... what about Super Lad?
I wouldn't mind Mon-el though. I never liked Valor.

Marvel Lad - nay. too many other marvels, across 2 companies. Jorg- if you hate K names, what's your "-El" then? How about a compromise: Val-El? Not the one from pre-C Supes, that is. I didn't mind "Valor," but prefer "Mon-El." M'Onel" was an okay variation.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I'm still with Mon-El. I never liked Valor and while M'Onel was a nice tribute, it wasn't quite the same. Maybe he could claim the "El" is in reference to "God" which is typically considered a male and so gives him the gender requirement for his name.
