I wish we could see more of Alan Davis' and Mark Farmer's work on Legion related stuff.

What was kinda cool for me was that this reality's Jeckie chose to keep her true form hidden from the rest of her teammates. Who knows how long she kept the deception going?

It's so unlike the reboot Jeckie (sorry, Jeka) that showed her true self immediately after her first firefight with the Legion while she was in tryouts.
"yep ... I'm a giant coiled up snake, are you going to hold that against me?".

Right now, he's doing Avengers Prime (bimonthly miniseries), as well as the covers for Fantastic Four.

His website is here .

What's interesting is the ambiguity as to what her true form actually was. For all we know, she really a turtle and the snake thing was just another layer of illusion!

She's like the Russian nesting doll of illusion. Just when you think you've figured out what she *really* looks like, you find out there's something underneath...

She's really the Time Teacher, the good counterpart to the Time Trapper, hiding under layers of illusion to maintain the timeline!

Holy crap! I meant to post a reply to Eryk and edited his post instead!

I'm not supposed to have that power! Quick, take it away before I go mad and use it for evil!

Ah, but it's my first time abusing this awesome power, and I was all flustered, so I just went straight for the mindwipe!

One of the best parts was the "evolution" of Light Lass' powers. At last, her name really fits. Now, I have nothing against her gravity-nullifying powers, but lasers and holograms are a BIG step up and make her rank really high on the Legion power scale.

I have to agree with you there I.B. That small but so powerful twist on her powers makes the most sense to me in general. I mean why didn't we think of that earlier ya know XD

All in all, I thought it was a nice spin on the Legion sort of a different riff on the basics of the Nail story. That whole " what if there was no superman" sort of, except Kal becomes superboy <_< >_>

And it just makes "Light Lass" sound less silly as a code name tongue

I agree ADL, it was a nice spin on the Legion mythos. Having Superboy come into his own during the story was a nice touch.

Agreed with Light Lass. That was a cool powerset, and very versatile.

I loved a lot of the quirky little touches.

Garth and Ayla as snooty aristocrats, instead of 'farm-kids.'

Brande off-handedly mentioning that kryptonite was worthless, since it's radioactivity had faded (which, given that it was 1000 years ago, at least, that Krypton exploded, totally makes sense!).

I remember wondering at the time if Marla Latham and Brande, in this universe, were a couple. When they discover Kal, they are together, and twenty years later, they are still associated, with no indication one way or another if they are 'together,' but no indication either that either in the last 20 years together has thought of taking a wife.

That would have been kind of cool!

Besides Light Lass' advanced powerset, I also appreciated Shadow Lass' own. This would have come out a few months after (April 2001?) Postboot Umbra's hard shift into using a tangible darkfield (October 2000), so perhaps credit should go to the Postboot. But Superboy's Legion's Shadow Lass used her field to great effect.

I also loved that pretty much every Legionnaire who showed up got to shine - Phantom Girl's warm-heartedness in comforting Superboy, Karate Kid's quiet confidence, Ferro Lad's realization that his iron form would disrupt the Emerald Eye, Ultra Boy's tactical skill, Shrinking Violet taking out Tharok, and Bouncing Boy saving a half-dozen of his teammates!

The only thing I don't like about giving Light Lass light-powers is that, in my mind, projecting light is supposed to be part of what Sun Boy does. I'd rather see him refine those abilities.
