I have a question about the post ZH Nura Nal - was it ever established whether or not she had a magical/mystical link, as she did pre-boot? I know that Mysa wasn’t her sister this time around, but did this preclude her from having any occult knowledge?
Thanks for the assist.
What was I thinking about?

Well, there's a half-hint in her being the first precog in seven generations that it may have been mystical. Certainly she didn't have any mystic knowledge though.

The problem is this. Preboot, Naltor and Orando were both settled by inhabitants of the Sorcerer's World/Gemworld. Postboot Orando obviously didn't get that same treatment in that version - or, possibly, the snakes ate the travelers. It's possible that Naltor was still settled by Gemworlders, but I'm guessing that all such attachments were severed with the reboot.
It's possible that the Naltorians were just a bunch of humans/humanoids who were unusually gifted psychically - but that doesn't necessarily mean they were of the supernatural. (IOW, J'Onn J'Onzz is technically psychic, since he's a telepath, but I don't think anyone has ever suggested this means he has ties to the supernatural.) Perhaps inbreeding, or lack of use, led to the decline of precognition.

It is real interesting how Waid handles this in this version.

Thanks for the assist. Initially, she seemed far too ditzy to have occult knowledge - she seemed more LA than San Fran. Her later evolution seemed more science-based than anything else - no sign of anything magickal about her, other than beauty.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Yes, but Nura was never really an occultist herself. Naltor was a world of natural precogs but they seemed to be one of the more highly scientific worlds. (Unless I'm just confusing things because Nura was tech-smart.)
As for postboot Nura, she seemed like a ditzy hippie at the start, but part of that was probably because her power was linked to narcolespy. I don't think her power developed through any special supernatural doings on her part but instead through random genetics.

you're right, it was one of the sci-worlds. Didn't she alter lightning lass' power using the super-science of naltor?

Yes, but it wasn't until Levitz came on board that he pointed out that Nura was actually one of the smartest members on the team.

But Naltors was settled by Zerox, and had magickal roots. Also, she was no slouch in helping her sister - both Nuras took part in the rituals in End of an Era, for instance - and don't forget the Sherman alt-timeline in LSH 300.
