I just realized that GK:

--shaves his head to where he almost appears bald
--is gay
--and has the power to make things either super-heavy or super-light

Which means obviously that he is the retroboot version of Luthor V!

Hopefully if Geoff Johns brings back the retroboot Legion, we'll get the see the inevitable epic showdown between Power Boy and jealous former GK lover Mxyzptlk V!

So obvious once you point it out.

Variable Lad could have been the stand-in for Mxy V, but it's more of a stretch than your Luthor V/Gravity Kid theory.

oooh! that could explain why Gravity Kid tends to be a bit uptight and a bit of a perfectionist! he's trying to prove that he's not all evil like his ancestor!

Not long after I joined here, I started jotting down where I'd have taken Brainy's Legion (as it would have started out as)

Waaaay down the track of those notes, we get towards dealing with those adult legion stories from Adv355, my notes say...


"Luthor V is revealed to be a returning Vole, from the adult story where they use the same powers. This picks up on the genetic links established since the early arcs.
The “armour” he wears in his induction appearance is really one of the heavy duty transuits seen in the TMK run."

There's several plot points leading up to this, as Tel starts off the run in the team. Events result in him leaving for a while, and this was to be his return. I've notes around who the Mr Mxyz is as well.
