Arriving May 30th.

Grant Morrison, huh? I guess they're trying to do damage control after they behaved so defensively about pronouns and other aspects of the LGBT+ experience. The most I'm hoping for is that they contribute a good story.

It looks like they might be fixing the mess Peter Tomasi made with his "Multiplicity" story from Superman. At least that's what a lot of us think.

I missed that storyline.

Sounds like I'm lucky that I did.

Tomasi had Red Racer killed off at the end.

I haven't re-read Multiversity in ages. Was Red Racer the openly LGBT alternate-universe speedster? If so, then shame on Tomasi. And on Patrick Gleason, his co-writer who must share the blame.

Yeah, Red Racer was from Earth-36 and he was in a relationship with Flashlight. Flashlight is going to be the focus of Morrison's story.

At least he went out as a self-sacrificing hero rather than being randomly killed by some villain. Still I can understand why people would be upset with the loss.

I think because this was Red Racer's only other appearance after Multiversity. And then notice how Morrison made Flashlight prominent among the GLs during The Green Lantern

So far I've only read the foreword by Phil Jimenez, which I think is excellent, and the Morrison story, which I find surprisingly good! I also flipped through the Harley & Ivy story because I adore Paulina Gaunucheau's art style.

It meant a lot seeing the Doom Patrol pin-up, and Coagula appearing in the Poker Night one alongside other older queer heroes like Starman III and Extrano and Pied Piper. Though I do think it should've been Obsidian instead of Alan.

I loved the Multiversity story too, if only because I can fully believe Morrison was so pissed off at what Tomasi did that they jumped at the chance to fix it. But overall, I mean, not to be a downer but it feels like these anthologies are becoming more and more performative. It's... less a celebration of DC's queer characters, and more that this is the only place most of them are guaranteed to appear in again.

Thanks for mentioning the pinups, Sarky.

Also, I did notice the succint and powerful tribute to Rachel Pollack, which homages the cover of Doom Patrol 87. Of course she deserved more, she deserved pages and pages, but...every little bit counts.

And your point about these anthologies being in danger of becoming a ghetto of sorts for LGBT+ characters is sobering and well taken.

I do like that DC had originally wanted Rachel to include a story in this anthology before her health declined
