This was a fat!Garth fic I commissioned from Robyn on twitter. Robyn Singer's another Legion fan like us and it's been a lot of fan discussing ideas about Garth Ranzz and Roy Harper with her. She felt comfortable with the idea of doing a fat!Garth fan fic for me and she had a lot of fun with it, too.

Cooking for his sons brought Garth Ranzz more joy than anything else. Well, that wasn?t entirely true. He loved cooking for his entire family, especially his beloved wife, Imra Ardeen. Alas, with how busy she was as an active Legionnaire, to say nothing of how often she was voted leader of the ?club? they?d started in a yellow rocket ship which had somehow come to span the entire universe, she was rarely home.
Tonight, the Ranzz boys would be having breakfast for dinner, with a huge helping of waffles drowned in syrup, six-cheese omelets, and, because he was a responsible father, Garth gave each of his sons a small bowl of berries. He wouldn?t be having any for himself.
Garth was far from an amazing cook. He didn?t need his wife?s mind reading abilities to know she preferred artificially made food. Graym and Garridan seemed to like it though. And even if Imra wasn?t fond of Garth?s cooking, she loved what it had done to his body.
Pre-fatherhood, Garth had treated his body as a temple. He?d eaten a careful diet and he?d spent more time in the Legion?s exercise facility than practically anything else. Imra wasn?t the only female Legionnaire whose heart had raced at the sight of his biceps and abs.
These days, however, Garth ate what made him happy. He loved his kids, but taking care of them was more exhausting than fighting any supervillain. Good food filled him with relief. And while he was initially worried as his chiseled chest became round and flabby, Imra told him, with complete honesty, that there was just more of him to love now.
A few years of his new diet later, and Garth was what some would describe as ?fat? or ?obese to an unhealthy degree?, but Garth saw it as living his best life.
However, while he and his wife were enjoying a better sex life than ever, there were two people precious to Garth who weren?t happy with how he?d changed. Really, this shouldn?t have come as a surprise. After all?kids were cruel.
?Daddy, are we gonna look like you when we grow up?? Graym asked.
?Yeah, are we gonna be fat too?? Garridan followed.
Garth laughed as he chewed on the enormous waffle he?d stuffed in his mouth. ?Your daddy is one of a kind, but if you want a bod like mine, you can definitely work for it. Or, I guess, not work for it.?
While Garth laughed again, Graym slammed his tiny fists down on the table. ?No! We don?t wanna be fatties!?
?Yeah! We wanna look like Uncle Rokk!?
Garth kept a smile on his face, but they may as well have fired his own lightning at him. When they were babies, the kids had so much fun bouncing on his stomach. Yet now, here they were, insulting the body he was so proud of. And while Garth was known among his peers to have a short and loud temper, there was now nothing he could do to vent. He wasn?t about to lose his cool at two five year-olds. He wasn?t about to lose his cool as his five year-olds.
?Uncle Rokk has a great body for sure,? Garth said, forcing a reassuring tone. ?Spend enough time working out, and you can definitely look like him.?
?Yay!? the boys cheered, slapping each other?s hands. ?We?re gonna look awesome!?
Garth stuffed another waffle in his face. They used to think he looked awesome.

While the boys played in their room with their toys, Garth planted himself on the couch, vegging out in front of the monitor in the living room. There were things that needed to get done around the house, very important things in fact, but he was mentally in no condition to do any of it. Maybe it was a little pathetic, but his sons may as well have kicked him in the balls and ran away laughing. No, he was gonna give himself a ?me day?.
DING! DONG!
Assuming whoever was at his front door didn?t need his help. Sometimes being a hero could be a major pain.
Opening the door, Garth was relieved to find not one of his neighbors, but the person most likely to literally kick him in the balls on any given day: Salu Digby.
No one was tougher than Iron Ass Imra, but it couldn?t have been a coincidence that Garth?s twin sister had fallen in love with the second toughest member of the Legion. Of course, while his Imra was a titan at keeping order, Salu was more likely to call you a little bitch and berate you for being an idiot.
Garth wouldn?t have wanted his sister-in-law any other way.
?Salu!? Garth cheered, his belly jiggling as he welcomed her inside. ?How are you? Is Ayla here??
?I?m supposed to meet her here,? Salu answered. ?She didn?t tell you? She insisted we take a short vacation, and thought it had been too long since we?d all been together, so she decided on Winath.?
That managed to widen Garth?s toothy smile. There was no one he missed more than Imra, but Ayla was a close second. Spending some time relaxing with her was exactly what he needed right now.
?The more, the merrier!? Garth shouted, pumping his arms as high into the air as he could manage. ?This is gonna be great.?
Salu eyed Garth?s belly, appreciating the rotundness of his form. She may have had zero attraction to men, regardless of whether they were fat or skinny, but she wasn?t blind enough to not notice why Imra liked breaking off a piece of him.
?Where are the boys?? Salu asked.
?Playing in their room. If you wanna go see them, I?m gonna have to ask you to not scare them so badly.?
?I loved scary stories as a kid.?
?And those same scary stories made Garridan wet the bed for a month.?
Before Salu could go see her nephews, the two Legionnaires heard laser fire come from outside. And while they may have been off-duty, with the slightest bit of danger in the air, their instincts kicked into gear. Garth and Salu rushed out the door, ready to deal with whoever was dumb enough to start sprock near the doorstep of the two greatest superheroes of all time (what Garth considered himself and Imra).
?Ah, grife,? Salu moaned as the two encountered a group of blaster-weidling hooligans dressed in drab greens and browns.
?You know who these punks are?? Garth asked, lightly charging up his hands.
?Yeah. They?re human-supremacists who can?t accept that their precious Earth Man was a giant loser.?
?Quiet!? their leader screamed. ?Earth Man was the only one of you Legionnaires worth a damn, and you turned your backs on him. And we?re gonna take you all out one by one, starting with the weakest among you.?
Garth took a moment to process what the long-haired man said. He looked to Salu, then back at the terrorists. Back at Salu, and back at the terrorists. Finally, he burst out laughing.
?What?s so funny?!? the attacker questioned. ?You think you two aren?t the bottom of the barrel? Shrink Girl and the fatso? When we intercepted the message that you two were meeting up, we knew it was our golden opportunity for vengeance.?
Salu smirked. She looked at Garth, then back at the terrorists. Back at Garth, then back at the terrorists. Finally, she joined Garth in hysterical laughter.
?Quit mocking us!? the leader of the assailants shouted, signaling with his hand for all of his men to raise their blasters. ?There are ten of us, and only two of you.?
?Yeah, yeah, that?s right.?
?You really should have brought more.?
Moving in perfect unison, Garth fired off electric blasts, immediately taking two of the terrorists out, while Salu leaped forward and shrank down. The two Legionnaires hadn?t been particularly close before Salu had gotten together with Ayla, but every member of the elite team had trained to work in sync with one another.
?No, but seriously, I helped found the Legion and you thought I was weak just because I?d put on a few pounds?? Garth laughed as he used his lightning to throw the terrorists? blasters away.?Honestly, you guys are way too skinny.?
The terrorists fired their blasters all around, but they were completely and utterly helpless. Without their blasters, and with no one able to see her, Salu knocked them out one by one with rocketing punches to the jaw.
In under a minute, the fight was over.
?Not gonna lie, was kinda hoping that would be harder,? Garth said, dusting his hands off. ?Couldn?t Tyr have followed you here instead??
?Tyr is dead.?
?Really? Huh. How?d he die??
?Ask Cham. He tells the story best.?
Memories of all the time he?d spent with Reep raced to the front of Garth?s mind, a wistful nostalgia coating his brain, but it didn?t last long. In a single moment, Garth?s mind went completely blank, save for two emotions: fear and rage.
?Daddy!?
?Daddy, help!?
Garth and Salu turned around to find two terrorists, who hadn?t been grouped up with the the others, standing across the lawn from them with their blasters aimed at Graym and Garridan?s heads, tears flowing out of the boys? eyes.
Instantly, Garth lost control as lightning spewed out of every poore of his body. He?d trained himself for a long, long time to keep control of his emotions, but these bastards were threatening his kids.
?We?we?re gonna walk away,? one of the remaining terrorists said, sounding exactly like the sniveling coward they all were. ?And you?re gonna let us, or else these alien brats get it.?
Before Garth could lose control and end the miserable lives of these monsters, Salu stepped forward, placing her arm in front of him.
?Do you not see what?s happening?? she asked. ?My friend here is ready to fry you both until you're black and crispy. That?s what?s going to happen if you don?t let the boys go immediately.?
?Not a chance, Imskian!? the other man shouted. ?We know you Legionnaires don?t kill!!?
?Which is why I?m not breaking your necks as we speak. But him? He hasn?t been an active member in years.?
As Garth?s extra-large stomach pumped in and out, a stray bolt of lightning fired out of it and annihilated a nearby tree.
Already trembling in their boots, that was the last straw for the terrorists, as they turned away from the children and ran away as fast as their legs would carry them.
But like Hell would they be getting away.
?Make sure they?re okay,? Garth said to Salu as he raced after the escaping terrorists.
He may have been heavy, he may not have been as flexible as he?d once been, and he may have run out of breath quickly, but when he was motivated, he could still sprint like no one else.
Within seconds, caught up to the terrorists, tackling them both to the ground and tazing the back of their heads, knocking them out.
Garth rolled over onto his back so he could catch his breath. He couldn?t imagine what he would have done if these punks had actually managed to hurt his boys. They may have been a little mean to him earlier, but they were still his entire world. Nothing would ever change that.
?Did?did I miss something??
Garth opened his eyes to find Ayla standing over him, hands on her hips.
After taking one more deep breath, he smiled up at her. ?Nothing much. Just some Earth Man supporters who thought they could take me and Salu.?
?Wow,? Ayla said, helping Garth stand up. ?What a bunch of idiots.? She eyed Garth up and down, before slapping his belly, prompting it to jiggle even more than usual. ?Loving what you?re doing with yourself, bro.?
?Heh. Thanks.?
?Daddy! Daddy!?
Salu holding both of their hands, Graym and Garridan raced up to the elder Ranzz twins.
?Hey, guys,? Garth smiled down at them. ?Are you both okay??
?Yeah! We?re not scared of anything!?
?Just like you!?
Garth put his hands on their heads and mussed their hair. ?Well, you may not want to look like me, but at least you want to share that with your old dad.?
?Are you kidding??
?You were awesome!?
?We want bodies just like yours!?
?We can eat whatever we want and be awesome heroes!?
Ayla and Salu giggled and greeted each other with a kiss, while Garth smiled proudly at his sons/ Tonight, he was going to cook them all something extra special, and with extra, extra fat.
