In this article (ironically enough, about an IRL fire affecting an online game), I couldn't help but notice the figure in the picture from the game looked rather familiar, if a bit patched up...
My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'll add to this, although I'm not sure if its the same thing. But on April 19, 2017, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came out and introduced Mantis, who in the comics is Asian, sometimes with green skin, but here has distinctively light-orange skin, and I always thought that there interpretation of her is exactly how Yera should look live action. Than just 26 days later the CW show Supergirl released the episode Resist which showed us for the first time what durlans look like in the Arrowverse, and man after seeing mantis was I ever disappointed. She looks like a hidious combination of humanoid durlan and green tentacle durlans.
Mantis, who in the comics commonly has Caucasian or green skin.
Well technically in the comics she's Vietnamese (before she was more or less mutated into a human-plant hybrid, that's where the green skin came from). Luckily by the time she was introduced Asians were not still colored literally yellow in comics.

I haven't seen the show so I won't comment on it, but your description sounds far better than the picture you posted :-)
I hate to be crabby but I don't care for most of these at all. Most look like they'd be more at home in the Trek-verse or Babylon 5. (With the caveat that I never liked Yera with hair, even if it was normal pre-Giffen to depict female Durlans like Cham's "mom" that way.)
There's a lot you could do in order to modernize Dawnstar, and they chose to whitewash her planet? Blecchh!!
Hey, Kids! My "Cranky and Kitschy" collage art is now viewable on DeviantArt! Drop by and tell me that I sent you. *updated often!*
I am fine either way if female durlans have hair or not, just as long as the 61 years of the fictional species existence isn't boiled down to what supergirl did, and that starhavenites should be portrayed by native american actors. Also the Arrowverse had introduced hawkgirl wings and all a year earlier so the studio had access to wing templates and animation, but instead they put a star-trek like forehead on a white actress and called it a day.

Yeah, I think they are better off clean shaven, but that is just my personal opinion. I might just think that because the two examples give weren't that great, but maybe the right beard would look good on one.
How about Persis Khambatta in her shaved head look from Star Trek: The Motion Picture? They managed to make her look and feel somewhat alien and with some little antennae and the pointed ears Yera chose to have she might look pretty good in that part. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persis_Khambatta#/media/File:Persis_Khambatta_we_Ilia.jpg

This reminds me of the song "Wildfire" by Michael Murphey, a hit in the mid '70s. Drake sure gets around.
