Ok, time for the commentary. I started this list because of three actresses I thought would make great legionnaires and it went from there. Elizabeth Olsen as Shadow Lass, I saw it instantly, the sass, the slightly higher sexualization, but most of all the badassery, she was instantly Shadow Lass to me. Naomi Scott as Saturn Girl, I don't know what it is but I find that close ups of the most recent adaptation of Imra resemble Buffy the Vampire slayer, now Sarah Michelle Gellar is far too old, but Naomi Scott who I find shares a remarkable resemblance fits the age range just right and I love her fiery spirt in the 2019 Aladdin. Finally, the woman who truly started this list was Kelly Maire Tran as Shrinking Violet, I thought she was the absolute best choice and had her as Violet for so long, but as my cast started being younger I had to force myself to pick another to play her. Malina Opal Weissman was a nice replacement for Kelly because I already loved her portrayal as the young Kara in CW's Supergirl 7 years ago and she now fits the age to play an adult superhero of her own.
Now, for the other choices that had further reasoning behind them. I wanted a non-binary actor to play Chameleon, this was a little hard to do because most NB actors are either over 30 or under 20 so when I came across Tommy Dorfman they were the perfect fit. For Colossal Boy I think its a throwaway line but at the end of the issue where he introduces Yera to his parents it is mentioned that they are Jewish, so I wanted a Jewish actor to play him, I got it down to two before I picked David Mazouz. Abigail Breslin was my favourite actress when I was little so it was nice to find a spot for her and she looks as if she could easily play the girl of steel. I originally had her as Andromeda, but when I saw Willow Shields I made the switch pretty fast. Nicole Maines was Dream Girl automatically from her portrayal in Supergirl as Nia Nal/Dreamer and she is defiantly still young enough, so for White Witch I had to find an actress with some resemblance and so I chose Mary Elle Fanning. For Chemical King I wanted an LGBT actor to portray him and Elliot Fletcher has the most resemblance. For Timber Wolf I wanted an athlete and I came across someone from a team called the Minnesota Timberwolves and although that athlete did not fit the role, Juancho" did. For Blok and Gates I needed voice actors and found two that I think would fit. Impulse I thought would need an athlete with strong leg muscles, so even though he is a swimmer I think Krist?f Mil?k was the right choice. And that is my reasoning for my special choices.
