I was thinking of something official from DC, but putting together some sort of fan creation might be fun too.

It would be super-cool if we could get sort of tribute story for Steve. It would be even cooler if somehow that story would feature a bunch of characters from v3 #14. Oh yeah, one that involved some characters that were introduced on his watch, or that he specifically created, like Tellus or Mentalla or Energy Boy or Myg (from a bit later) could be a neat tribute.

I tweeted a link to Colleen Doran. A number of other comic pros have donated. Levitz sent $1000.

I contributed. I see some other familiar names have, as well.
I feel bad that I never supported his digital work. I've just never been into digital comics, and I suppose I was hoping he'd eventually publish in print.
At least, I'm helping his family in some small way in their time of need.

I don't know if Steve Lightle's style hits my buttons generally when it comes to sequential art, but I always loved his cover art and I feel like Tellus could really have been a breakout character if other creators had used Lightle's creator notes - the idea that his pods change colour as communication/mode of expression was brilliant and probably too far ahead of colouring techniques at the time to have been taken on and normalised by any other artists who didn't have a vested interest in the character.

I believe they actually closed it down this afternoon. They'd raised almost twice the goal of $5000 last time I checked.

I hope it's enough. Final expenses can be high. I was pleased to see it was going well over and wouldn't have minded seeing it continue.

Yeah, I was honestly a bit surprised to see the goal set so low. Apparently the family asked for it to be shut down, though, so...

I honestly don't recall if I ever meet him in person or interacted much with him online but he seemed like a really great guy from being FB friends with him over the years. Always enjoyed his art since I first discovered it too. It's a real shame to lose yet good person due to the awfulness of Covid-19. He will be missed & my deepest condolences to his family / friends / fans / colleagues.

Just saw this, I guess I don't visit this forum frequently. What a terrible loss.
