Well, it's starting out well. Though frankly I also forgot all about Mordru... guess Bendis has a convenient excuse eh?
Onion rings - tourist trash or classic? I love it. Commissioner Sevenbergen is cool.
Titan living in the mind. also like it.
And Karate Kid is definitely being drawn quite Asian - the nose, the eyes, the features... me likey. Also, him really classifying the martial arts as ARTS. I also like it.

It has a good feel - my initial reaction to a Jon-Imra romance was negative, but this reads well. Some good world-building too, good to see Planet Gotham hasn't been abandoned.
You know who I forgot about? Karate Kid! Hadn't even noticed him missing with this large cast. He's got a different take on life, which is refreshing.

LOL that's a good one FC. I also had that thought - oh, KK was not there for the Trial? I doubt I would have noticed!

Interlac translation:
Martial arts are a highly organized set of systems and tradi- tions of combat practiced for a number of reasons. They were first developed in ancient times for self defense and law enforcement. And then, later, competition. Most use them for physical, mental and spiritual development. For many parts of the galactic it is a cornerstone of the preser- vation of intangible cultural heritage. They have become a large part of a variety of galactic cultures including New Krypton, parts of Planet Gotham, Winath, and of course the Japanese outpost of Jupiter which is about to start its mil- lennium celebrations at the end of the year.
So apparently Japan will setup an outpost at Jupiter (on Ganymede perhaps?) by the end of this century. Ambitious but would be nice to see.

Let's put the other pieces together... Ryan provided a glimpse at Dr. Fate for LSH #10 on Instagram - More sneak peeks from Ryan via InstagramIt's DC Fandome day so we have to SHARE and peak a little into the future of the Legion with some details from upcoming issues! First, don't mess with Ultraboy. Then what major inspiration do our Legionnaires come face to face with in the 31st century?! And lastly, a glimpse at the Gold Lantern's origin which is stranger than even Brainiac 5 could have deduced! Happy celebrations all you fan-domers!

Beautiful art as usual from Sook. Is that a Guardian all glowy, whispy and golden? The floating robot is reminiscent of the Kryptonian robots from post Crisis Fortress of Solitude. New Krypton? A woman with an S shield, a metallic looking arm and a hammer? (Also dark skinned not that that is indicative at the moment.) A descendant of Steel? (John Henry Irons and Natasha Irons) I was guessing that the mysterious floating woman everyone is amazed at might have been the current Kara but the hair is a bit short so perhaps it is the S Shield person? Oh and is Cham's standard form taller than the rest of the legionnaires (I haven't noticed) or is he stretching a bit to see whatever they are looking at?

I am glad that the characters agree with me that John Stewart is the best Green Lantern from Earth.

Sook has always drawn Cham as taller than the others.

So, I kind of liked this issue! Breaking the team up into smaller groups and sending them on different missions actually helps a lot.
Gold Lantern gets a name! Mon-El gets a family!
Though I have to admit, thus far Gold Lantern's origin isn't exactly the amazing story we were assured it was.

S P O I L E R S . . . So, do we think the Shadow Lass/Phantom Girl thing is a typo mistake or another continuity blip in this always evolving new Legion reality. Also, I don't like when Legionnaires have kids. They should be too young for that.

I'm leaning towards an error on the Shadow Lass/Phantom Girl thing. I honestly didn't notice it on first pass, as I'm so used to the "classic pairings". It's pretty weird that Mon not only has kids, but three of them. And he suddenly has a beard.

Though I have to admit, thus far Gold Lantern's origin isn't exactly the amazing story we were assured it was. I feel much the same. Lots more characterisation shown through this along with a whole slew of potential plot points. I guess that's the key word, potential. It's a bit sad to say that my reaction is wondering if this is Bendis getting a handle on things or an aberration? Hoping for the former.

Honestly what?s concerning me the most is the fact that Mon is apparently young enough to date 17 year olds, but old enough to have three children? I don?t like many of the potential answers that would explain that...

Yeah, Mon's traditionally the oldest Legionnaire (even discounting the time in suspended animation and then the Phantom Zone), but I'm not seeing this working very well at all. It looks like they are trying to model him visually on Chris Wood from Supergirl. OH MY GOD.
WHAT IF JON IS SOMEHOW MON'S DAD What if Imra is his mom?

They should be too young for that. It's possible Mon-El was with Shady and Phantom Girl at different times. When I went back and re-read awhile ago I noticed Mon-El was a bit upset when Shady and Rokk announced they were a couple (before the General through Rokk out the window).

Mon with 3 kids sounds awful.
I agree with stile's comment - I hope this is Bendis actually getting the hang of the team. remaining generally hopeful.
