Note: This is sort of a spin-off from my "Academy Stories" thread. I might post content between the two threads as these stories share characters. I have a lot of ideas so I'm hoping to format this as a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story if I receive sufficient audience participation. If not, it probably will become a list of alternate timelines. I prefer to write timelines and charts as they show all the key information at one time. I am copy and pasting Edison's bio from that thread to this thread.
Chapter One
Magnus Arc Rich sits in the control rooms of the central command center of the Veridium Technarchy surveying the newest data given to him by the AI known as Zinc. He reminisces about the events that have led up to this moment. He has been in charge of the Veridium Technarchy for decades, leading the stellar empire through civil wars and expanding their influence to neighboring empires. However, the victories have come with a decline in energy production. In order to maintain the level of AI and services Veridianites demand, the empire has to constantly explore new sources of energy.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise when a scavenger robot accidentally reopened the portal the colonists used to originally settle S-37 (The Veridianite's capital). While the Veridianites were cautious about re-establishing ties with Earth, they were excited about the possibilities they see in forms of "infinite energy". There are creatures that break the laws of 20th century physics and produce electricity, heat, and other forms of energy at will. If the Veridianites could obtain some of this powert they may be able to save their empire as is. Magnus Arc Rich's advisors have come up with two different plans to obtain this power, both of which involve taking advantage of their recent exchange program with the United Federation of Planets. To begin the operation, they must survey them to see if they are up to the tasks at hand.

Age: 21
Origin: Dacey was borne to Imra and Garth Ranzz shortly after the defeat of the Fatal Five and the perceived end of the last "Age of Heroes". She led a quiet life on Winath with her twin sister, Dorrit, and her two brothers, Graym and Garridan. She inherited the ability to generate electricity from her father. Her parents left their daughters in charge of the farm when they had to fully revive the Legion and go fight General Immortus' new Brotherhood of Evil. Now that things have calmed down, Dacey has decided she wants to explore the galaxy and decided to apply to be the first UP citizen to study abroad in the Veridium Technarchy.

Name: Edison Unus Snakelocks*
Age: Junior (Veridium school system is a bit different from UP)
Origin: Edison is an exchange student from the Veridium Technarchy. He is from a "lost" colony that was founded by scientists who sought to pursue advanced AI development that was banned by many space-faring powers during the 21st century.
The United Planets decide to try an extensive exchange program in order to ease the border tension between the two powers. Edison applied to the program and expressed an interest in the Legion of Super-Heroes, so he was selected to spend a semester at the Legion Academy. He was given nanite treatment which gives him significant command and transmutation of a common element-- carbon--and sent to the Legion Academy in the fall. As he is not applying to be a Legion member, the non-equipment rule does not apply to him.
*= Unus is latin for one, meaning that he is descended from the main line of Snakelocks. The Veridium Technarchy has a low organic population and uses these numbers to keep track of family lines in an effort to prevent accidental inbreeding.
