I wonder if a Trommite wearing an English letter "E" is like a contemporary American wearing a Chinese character or something?

See also when the founders wore their names, in English, on their shirts.

Not unheard of.

Really, no explanation needed.
The Interlac alphabet wasn't even invented until around 1985.

Why is the name 'Eryk Davis Ester' written in those antiquated characters instead of proper Interlac?

<Gasp!> My post has been translated into these archaic characters, too! Darn forum auto-translate software!

Man, my planned campaign to demand the return of the costumes with the names written on them because "Hey! They're actually super-hip!" isn't off to the start I'd hoped for. wink

That'd be smaller than the average chest emblem for XS, but kind of hilarious for someone with a humongous name, like Princess Projectra or Matter-Eater Lad. I'd particularly love if the costume was designed by someone who hadn't planned ahead for how long the name was, and the end letters are all smaller and squished together and running under their armpit, because they were running out of room... smile

"Why is your name Matter-Eater La?"

"We ran out room before we got to the 'D.' And shut up."

^^The real reason why v8 Matter-Eater Lad is so bulked up! More room to fit his name on his chest!
