Writer's Note: This fanfiction is set in the same universe as "Roommate Counseling", but I feel the tone is far too serious to place it in the same thread. This story is based on the tense relationship between Mary, Queen of Scots and her husband Henry Darnley. It also introduces Jai West.

Previously on the Injustice Gang…

When asked by Alexis Luthor regarding what happened to Iris West, Jaded Sapphire explained, “Those two kids mix like gasoline and fire…literally, her powers are like gasoline to his heat vision. We had to politely ask them to leave the building because they threatened to destroy us all with their petty squabbles.”

Iris West looks through this white void and feels herself slowly fading away. There must be a way out of this place she thinks. Lor-Zod locked me in here after I tried to rig some Red Kryptonite explosives in our apartment…I will not say I did not deserve it, but the heat vision burnt marks on my shoulders remind me he is not innocent either.

Iris West thinks back to the events that have occurred over the past three years. Three years ago, she decides to take Alexis Luthor’s offer to join the Injustice Gang in order to stabilize her powers and lifespan (which had gone haywire since the death of her cousin). She also never fully recovered from the death of her boyfriend. One year ago, Alexis Luthor sends Iris on a mission against her brother, Jai, to prove her loyalty. It is a test which she is hopelessly unprepared for. She spent a lot of time convincing the Legion that her brother killed their father and was plotting against her. All those years of espionage work is undone in a matter of days after she publicly betrayed the Legion Academy. Jai is now accepted as a hero by the general public and the Legion rallies around his renegade band. She is only saved from capture by the timely appearance of a minor villain called the Mandolin.

Her love for Lor-Zod starts as a bonus to the experience. The two of them begin dating as soon as Cir-El breaks up with him. They are both happy to find a partner that could keep up with their hyper speed approach to life. Unfortunately, the differences in their upbringings soon became a problem as Lor-Zod expects conformity while she likes to do things spontaneously. He lusts for power in ways she could not understand, while he considers her to be lazy and naive. They get married during an Injustice Gang outing in the Khundian-UP Neutral Zone. However, their fights turn more and more aggressive as they lose control of their super-powers during fits of rage. She starts having an affair with the Mandolin while Lor-Zod is on a mission in deep space. The other Injustice Gang members turn a blind eye to this affair, but unfortunately for them, Lor-Zod discovers it quickly once he returns. She vibrates through ten layers of shielded walls in order to escape the building with her life, but the Mandolin is not so lucky.

After a period of separation, they decide to try to work things out again. However, some members of the Injustice Gang tell her that Lor-Zod is unstable and needs to be neutralized. She is the best person to do this, as her powers will let her escape into the time-stream if need be. Unfortunately for her, she is caught by Lor-Zod just as the detonators begin pinging and he responds with heat vision. He drags her to the Superman Museum in order to toss her at the Phantom Zone Projector. She remembers his last words to her, “I found a place outside of time for you, now trouble someone else!”

Iris sometimes sees edges of current events going by and wonders if she can find someone to rescue her. Most of the senior Injustice Gang members live in exile on Lexor as of the end of last semester, but there has to be someone that can unlock this metaphorical cell. She peers into one corner and sees a young man who calls himself Latchkey Kid. Now if only there is some way to reach him…
