Just saw a preview screening. Won't spoil too much, but it is very much a retelling of the New 52 story. I enjoyed it for the most part, but it had the potential to be so much more. Both leads we're great, as was the kid playing Freddie. My kids loved it, far more than I did.

I just recently read the New 52 stuff, since it was obviously necessary for the new series. It’s far from my favorite version, but I liked it fine. Especially since the things I’ve seen suggest they either won’t be going with unlikeable billy, or at least won’t be hammering it so hard. Looking forward to it!

Our family had quite a debate about how likable movie Billy is, and what was warranted as part of his journey. I'll be interested to see people's thoughts, as it was a bit of a sticking point for me.

Still haven't had a chance to see it yet, hopefully sometime soon before it leaves!

Saw it yesterday with Sam. We liked it. A little goofy, a lot of fun. Still had some dark moments, but pretty true to the current iteration of Captain Marvel.
Sorry, nope. Ain't gonna call him Shazam. Don't care WHAT marvel managed to get.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

My granddaughter took me to see Shazam! last Tuesday. I enjoyed it well enough, but one of the scenes replicated almost shot-for-shot a traumatic experience that happened to her last Thanksgiving. So she was a little freaked out, and really couldn't enjoy (or even remember) the rest of the movie. IF you want details and don't mind spoilers, this is the scene: When Thaddeus Sivana's family gets hit by the car. Only in my granddaughter's accident, she was sitting on the passenger's side, and was the one who got hit (through the door) Also, the car rolled one more whole turn than the Sivana's. Seatbelts and airbags did their job, and no one was seriously injured. Only scrapes and bruises and six weeks of therapy. (The car, of course, was totaled.)

Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

Sorry to hear this, Klar. I hope all is well and she doesn't have lingering problems.

I watched this recently with my kids. It was pretty good. My kids were impressed by my knowledge of comic book arcana. As soon as I saw the little worm, I laughed and blurted out, "It's Mr. Mind!" I explained that he was a Shazam villain. My daughter asked, "Why doesn't he just step on the worm?" Because it's comic books, I guess...

That would be killing, and super-heroes don't kill! (Er... they haven't watched Man of Steel, have they? ) Also, Mister Mind is remarkably fast and agile for a worm.

Also, Mister Mind is remarkably fast and agile for a worm. Don't fall for Mister Mind's charms EDE! He'll worm his way into your affections!

Random fact: Mister Mind actually was executed during the Golden Age, and remained dead until DC brought him back in the 70s!

When you say executed, did one of his henchmen accidentally step on him?
