The bat's name was Reep Daggle.

Skree was selected by the Red to approach the chosen champion and make him an avatar of the natural world and it's primal sense of justice, red in tooth and claw.
Unfortunately, the scared-out-of-his-mind young Bruce Wayne panicked and brained Skree with a fallen board before the Red could warm up to its offer, and so Batman became the first 'superhero' on the Justice League to have no superpowers as he accidentally straight-up murderered his 'origin story.'
The Red chalked it up to a learning moment and resolved to pick a sturdier avatar, next time.
