So we are staying away from past conflicts as a story. I like it. But I wonder there is one story in Legion history that never really got told yet happened. Black Dawn. I may be accussed of wanting this cause I always wanted the new Legion (any of them after v4) to start at this point in Legion history. But a title called Black Dawn with some of the elements hinted in the even would be cool. Nice way to introduce Wildfire atleast.

I got the feeling that the name "Black Dawn" sounded better than the story would have been on its own. It was a battle between Imskians and Braalians, and we know Vi and Cos were involved, but it seems to me that it would mostly involve characters who we didn't really care about.

IIRC, the Venado Bay incident was part of the Imsk-Braal war, and Black Dawn was something different, possibly involving Earthgov corruption.

Yeah, I think Wildfire got "killed" in the Black Dawn incident, didn't he?

Black Dawn is more explicitly detailed in the 2995 sourcebook for the old Mayfair DC Heroes game. I don't remember the exact details, but the general idea is that Sol starts dying, presumably because of some outside intervention. Part of the ultimate solution to fix the star involved Drake adding his own energy to the star.

Black Dawn involves the Legion versus Doctor Regulus and the Legion of Super-Villains. I believe Reflecto was killed in the battle as well as Wildfire's sacrifice at the end. It was also during this incident that radiation triggered Timber Wolf's mutation into "Furball".

Ah, I'm confusing them. I read through the sourcebook after downloading it from Scott's website, but don't remember a whole lot about it. But I was definitely confusing Black Dawn and Venado Bay. Maybe Black Dawn would be interesting, as would the *real* first encounter with Mordru (not the Glorith-included version).

There is actually a really cool description of one Legion fan's interpretation of how Black Dawn would have gone down on "Get a Life Boy's website". I'll let someone else post the link And you guys are right, Reflecto and Wildfire 'die' in it and Timber Wolf goes on to become Furball from that point on. Other small things start to happen in it too IIRC.

Darn I would love to see this done as an Elseworld by Giffen!!!! Or as I said a similiar story for this new Legion maybe introducing Wildfire and Timberwolf (and the LSV). I have high hopes for whatever villain team appears...in other words I hope they are cooler than the legion.

Actually I used to have a whole section dedicated to the sourcebooks but after numerous attempts at contacting Mayfair for reprint permission and no luck I pulled it all so I wouldn't get into any trouble.
