Last week I was at my brother-in-law's wedding. I couldn't help myself. My acquisition of "Beware of the Dog" by Barbara Tarsikes done in pencils. I picked this up at the River Art Gallery ( River Art Group, Inc.) — at La Villita Historic Arts Village, San Antonio, TX. The artists rotate as the staff of the stores and they have quite the selection of items from prints, originals, sculptures and jewelry. I will put the artist's bio as an additional photo.

My commission of Soljer sketch card by Cal Slayton As a small boy, I loved this story in Superboy #210 “Soljer’s Private War” by Jim Shooter and artwork by Mike Grell. Lightning Lad inadvertently reanimates a warrior from World War VI outside Metropolis while training. The warrior is still trying to overtake the defenses of Metropolis and is using unseeable weapons that can harm the Legionnaires despite their abilities. His “weapons” can cause a stab wound to Phantom Girl in her intangible state and also aims and fires a blast from a “firearm” that affects Superboy. I figured he was A) worthy of a sketch card B) appropriate for the Halloween season seeing he is basically a zombie and C) a childhood favorite of mine. Please enjoy and read the issue to see the exciting way the Legion overcomes this man out of time.

That story was a favourite of mine form an early age too. A throwaway character that felt significant and somewhat developed. Great idea for a sketch card.

My commission of Satan Girl sketch card by Cal Slayton The female Legionnaires (including Substitute Night Girl) have the mysterious "Crimson Plague". It becomes necessary to isolate the female members from the males. Satan Girl announces she is the source and a battle ensues. Even the mighty Maid of Steel seems to be unable to defeat her. Want to find out the whole story and the exciting end, read the story in Adventure Comics #313.

Satan Girl, that's one of my favorite of the early Adventure era Legion stories.
Love the facial expression the artist gave her.
Thanks, J-Pops.

My commission of Glorith sketch card by Cal Slayton Glorith, henchwoman for the Time Trapper in Adventure Comics #338. Are those Legion babies? She has had quite the varied history. But this was her first appearance and the one I remember the most. Splorp!
