In the first issue of The Tempest, the latest and final LoEG series, two of the League travel back in time from the year 2996 .

The pair are evading the Marslord’s Junior Enforcers. The enforcers have a Rocket ship shaped headquarters and use aerojewellery to catch up.

Their members include a little girl with a psi range, an electrodirector with lightning -like powers and a third with possibly magnetic abilities that remove a gun form the hands of one of the league.

One of the duo escapes in a bubble-like Aeonosphere which has been set to 1958. The method of time travelling looks familiar too.

The book has Martian connections through such things as the War of the Worlds and John Carter. The mention of a Marslord reminds me of the old Superboy comics where he meets Marsboy. One of those would be revised to be the first appearance of Starboy later on.

Even though two of the League are trying to prevent this future, it’s a treat to see it in an Alan Moore story. Fingers crossed they appear again later on.

The Junior Enforcers are not exactly on the side of the angels, are they? Just one page devoted to them, so it's hard to tell if they'll play a later role. The Marslord may supply a second aeonosphere - or someone from the present takes the one Satin arrived in to go to the future. This takes place in the City of We - title of an early Russian sci fi novel about a peaceful totalitarian state (enforced peace - I tried reading it but couldn't get through it).

Thanks very much for the info on the City of We. As we've just had an election issue in the rereads thread, this makes me think some more about the system the Legion operate within, and how it might be viewed from the outside.

Has Alan Moore ever commented on the Legion? He may consider it to be a group of fascist boy scouts and the future is only bright and shiny due to draconian laws.
