I know I didn't as a reader and I seem to recall another artist on it at the time? "...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."

Alan regrettablely left before the Cross-Time Caper was over. I’m not positive but I think it was due to some editorial/management issues. It was definitely the art, rather than the writing, on the early Excalibur issues that was the appeal (as I noticed when Davis wasn't doing the art).
