Just found out that there is a 4 part role play module featuring the Legion. It's from 1987 by Mayfair Games.
Soooooo ... is anybody here who has actually played these or read them or by any other means knows if they are any good? Good enough to buy even if you're not owning the DC Superheroes Role Playing system?

The source books (players' guides? reference books?) themselves are collectible. Good art, interesting takes on the characters. I was never very much into D&D, but I used to have the character and world books, and at least one adventure.
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

I've not played the adventure, but picked up the modules due to the Legion content. Without spoiling anything, the adventure takes the legion against some major foes and the scope is big. Big enough to take it across 4 modules.
If you get a good deal on them, they are worth flipping through.
Like Klar said, the two sourcebooks from around that time are well worth picking up. Levitz has a credit in the first one and the second is a world book.
Then there's the 2995 sourcebook, which is practically a companion book for the TMK run. That's definitely worth having, although the cost of it has rocketed like an out of control Legion clubhouse.
The quality of the DC modules was generally decent at the time, but the Sourcebooks were particularly good such as the Watchmen and JLA ones.

I didn't like the Mayfair game mechanics of play (The exponential stat increases were a good way to account of the Superman-like characters, but made play clunky, as I recall), but some of the modules were quite good and creative (The Ambush Bug one is amazingly funny, and the Watchmen one is surprisingly good.) I never did get any of the Legion ones (They were quite scarce).

Thanks for your impressions. I do have the three sourcebooks, must have picked them up 15 years ago. The 2995 book is really funny due to its Matter Eater Lad passages just like DVD bonus material before DVD was invented But those modules I never heard about, or I have forgotten about it. They are offered on ebay but shipping from the US is quite expensive, and ebay.co.uk has them for about 20 € a piece. As a collectible, I guess I will have to get them in the end. I recently even bought the Legion add-on to the DC Card Game though I don't have the basic set ...

I was the same. I didn't know there were Legion modules for ages. I tripped across one in a second hand shop. I didn't read it then, and thought it would be a one off, rather than a series of four. So, I didn't get the others until later still.

I have had them all (though I'd be hard pressed to lay my hands on them now).
The 2995 book was awesome and much more about the TMK run than the RPG (and the Mayfair game was shrinking at that point, I believe).
The Legion games are fun in their own way. I played through the modules as a kid and loved fighting alongside the Legionnaires. The Legion, unfortunately, revealed much of the Mayfair limitations (in terms of powers and the point system). BUT you're probably not playing the system.

A lot of the sourcebooks/ modules are well worth having for the read.
I remember taking the plots of a Teen Titans one, itself taken from Ice Station Zebra, and using it wholesale in another system.
Ray Winninger did a lot of good work on these. The Watchmen work being another standout.
