I was organizing and re-bagging some old comics over the weekend, and discovered something that I may have already known that just didn't register before. The Challengers of the Unknown were revived by DC for a brief period in the late 70s. First, for three issues of Super-Team Family. Then in a revival of their own magazine (issues #81 through #87). The revival was completely illustrated by artists who are also associated with the Legion.

The three Super-Team Families featured the pencils of James Sherman.

#81 and #82 were drawn my Mike Nasser.

#83 through #87 had pencils by Keith Giffen.

I don't have the Sherman issues, but I'm on the lookout for them now. The Nasser issues are beautiful. I so wish he had done more comic book work. Giffen's issues are very much in the style he used on his early Legion work.

Does anyone have any of these comics? What do you think?

I haven't read any of those issues (never much of a Challengers fan, although I did buy the Challengers of the Fantastic special from the event where the DC and Marvel universes merged, mainly for the Tom Grummett art) but I love Mike Nasser. I prefer his half of Paul Levitz's first Fatal Five story over Sherman's, and I adore the Mon-El solo backup story he drew for another Levitz issue, which I only recently purchased.

Thanks Jerry. I've not read those. With those artists I'll definitely keep an eye out for them.
