Ha! You thought this was going to be about the current series, didn't you?
No! This thread is about the first twenty-five issues of the Adventure Era!
Just a reminder of some of the groovy things that happened between Adv. 300 and 324:
The ongoing Mon-El saga! (Adv. 300, 304, 305) The death, pseudo-resurrection, and resurrection of Lightning Lad! (304, 308, 312) The attempts of Bouncing Boy to prove his worth to the team! (301, 309) Sun Boy losing his powers, leaving the team, regaining his powers, rejoining the team, and going crazy from space fatigue! (302, 318) Saturn Girl's election and re-election as leader! (304, 323) The Legion of Substitute-Heroes being formed, operating in secret, being discovered by the Legion, and finally saving the day against those two zany old men from Throon! (306, 311, 315, 319) The Mask Man kills everyone, before that timeline is revised! (310) The introductions of Matter-Eater Lad, Element Lad, Lightning Lass, Dream Girl, and Dev-Em to the Legion (303, 307, 308, 317, 320) Matter-Eater Lad and Ultra Boy suspected of being traitors! (303, 316) The beginnings of the first Time Trapper arc! (321, 322) The first encounter with the Heroes of Lallor (324) Battles with Monster Master, Satan Girl, and Alaktor, among others! (309, 313, 314)
Use this thread to discuss these and other groovy things from these issues!

Well, if you'd added in other issues featuring the LSH from the same era, we could add in how many people think Koko should have been used -- introduced and killed off in the same issue.

Koko rocks! I still find it amazing that there was never a Koko versus Beppo story!

Or Koko should have at least been one of Krypto's re-occurring enemies.

BAH Koko should be used as a Krypto enemy only when he' s with the Space Canine Patrol. It's too silly otherwise.
Did the CCA allow for monkey poo? Koko could have led a band of evil space mutts. He'd throw poo at the SPCA HQ Hydrant while his hench dogs used it for the purpose most Earth Dogs seem to use hydrants for.

Back on Topic, by the end of Archive Volume 2 I'm totally in love with Saturn Girl.

I've read some of them, and am currently going through what's available from my local library -- volumes 1-4 and 7-11.
Lots of people have commented on how wrong Brainy's current costume looks in the wrong lighting, but I've yet to hear any comments on Lightning Lass's costume in this series...
I'm not so sure about Saturn Girl. For all her determination not to go head-hopping, there's quite a few points where the other legionairres are careful to guard their thoughts around her, and an awful lot that she picks up in spite of their best efforts.

Tinya is my favorite of all the Legion females, but Imra was the *star* of the Adventure era, and a true trend-setter! These issues rawk like few others. I love so many of these stories, but the most fun parts are the way they can be broken down into arcs & subplots like EDE has above. The Mon-El saga, Lightning Lad's Death Saga, the Subs Saga, and Time Trapper subplots are pure Silver Age awesomeness. Things happened a mile a minute back in the Silver Age!

Yeah - Those were the days! *sigh*
(and at 10¢ and 15¢ an issue - what a value)

Hey, EDE, I find it necessary to point out a few errors in your issue numbers:
Sun Boy lost his power in Adv. 302.
Ultra Boy was suspected of being a traitor in Adv. 316.
Dream Girl debuted in Adv. 317.
Also, debuting in these issues were Radiation Roy, Ronn Karr, Spider Girl, and Double Header! Not to mention Proty II joining the Super Pets.

This is not quite on topic, but I just wanted to mention also that in the first 25 issues of the 2boot legion, we had:
The inception / origin story of the Legion The first major expansion (Leviathan, Cham, Invisible Kid, Kid Quantum, XS, Brainy) The Tangleweb story / Kid Q's death Mano Intro of Ultra Boy and Spark Intro of the Workforce / Planet Hell storyline Intro of Andromeda, Shrinking Violet, and Kinetix Battle with Composite Man / Imra's mental problems Destruction of Trom And most importantly, a 25-issue White Triangle story arc which I still think is one of the most successful mega-arcs I have ever read in superhero comic books. It started in LSH and Legionnaires #0, and slowly picked up speed and intensity until its final payoff in Legionnaires Annual #2. That was a great, great story. It had a huge payoff with the growth of character in Andromeda. The death of Tinya. Major shock. Of course, they went and blew it later by turning Andromeda into Space Nun and Tinya into a ripoff of "Ghost," but at that moment, I think those two books were at the top of their game. Not to mention the individual battles with the 4 Daxamites, the 3 founders and Brainiac 5 standing there bravely to meet the Daxamites, Andromeda and Shrinking Violet's fight against Roxxas, and the fruition of Cos and Brainy's secret plan, which was Element Lad's final save...
That issue rocked. And those first 25 issues were pretty darn good.
White. A blank page or canvas. His favorite. So... many... possibilities.

You know, I thought about doing the first twenty-five issues of the reboot for comparison, but it seemed like too much work! Thanks, Kippers!
