Just for fun, and to keep this forum active, lets toss abut a few ideas...
If you were tasked by DC with the idea of getting the Legion back up on its feet, would you sell it to DC as...
LEGION-Justice League style! (No, that's already being done, and poorly.)
How about LEGION-Firefly style? The Legionnaires are semi-lovable scoundrels with hearts of gold, pursued by the UP Alliance because B-5 is wanted by the law.
Or how about LEGION-Star Trek style? The Legion, members of a multi-world organization, patrols the borders of space, each month confronting new dangers and discoveries.
Or... LEGION-Gossip Girl style? Young and pretty teens and early twenties kids with super abilities, trying to make their way in a 31st century universe while, all around them, fashion, decadence and schemes keep them from being happy. Cue up the latest trendy music of the week.
Or.... Let's hear your thoughts, Legion fans.

Legion Stargate. Someone (Brainy, Shikari, whatever) discovers transportation portals to a hitherto unexplored region of the galaxy, with dozens of worlds populated by humanoids clearly related to the citizens of the UP. They were in contact long ago, until this portal network shut down for thousands of years, and now teams of Legionnaires must deal with both exploring these new worlds and possibly folding them into the UP, and addressing threats to those worlds, and dealing with any threats from that region of space coming through the portals into UP space.
And then there's the ancient portal builders themselves, and the reason why they were shut down in the first place...

LEGION-Fringe style. A group of government agents, each with a different strange power, teamed with an eccentric genius (Brainiac 5), find out about another universe, similar to their own, but with significant differences. They investigate threats to their own universe, as well as threats to "the other side."
Watching television is not an activity.

Legion and the Sorcerer's Stone - A trio of young students at the academy on Sorcerer's World, Mysa, Xiao and Glorith, must work together to stop an ancient evil sorcerer, believed long dead, and referred to in whispers as 'He Who Must Not Be Named' (aka Mordru), from arising to reshape the world in his dark image, gathering together other students and helping them develop their own unique talents (and confidence!), including ghostly nearly-headless Tinya and changeling child Reep and giant-blooded Gim.

The Legion as Reality Show.
The original Legion’s children or grandchildren are now teen-agers.
With the UP long at peace, the Legion is a sad joke: the subjects of a 33rd-century “reality” holo-vid programme, something of a cross between “The Real World”, “American Idol”, and “Survivor”.
High-level powerhouses, such as Daxamites, are forbidden from joining the Legion. Instead, they are drafted into UltraCorp, a Special Ops group within the ICC.
But there is something wrong at UPGov, and some of the scorned Legionnaires are uncovering some old secrets.
But there are also secrets hidden within Legion Headquarters of which even UPGov and the ICC- and even the Legon itself- are unaware.
But can a group of third-rate second-stringers- Cacuceus, Jill Frost, Psimian, S.E.P. Lad, and The Sigellian Kid- possibly succeed where most powerful Legionnaires of the past have failed?
…and featuring special guest appearances by: Indomitable Lad, Leeta-92, M.E.C.H., the Daxamite Pirates, Captain Xyzkov of the ICC, Ozmarda, Volaillere & Chanticleer of the Sorcerer's World, the mysterious Mr. Cobb, the One True God of the Dominion, and the 32nd Century Legion of Substitute Villains!
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

Legion Lost Farscape style-- a group of Legionnaires wakes up caged aboard a sentient, living starship. Their captors are a disparate group of varied and unfamiliar species. They seem in charge, but their attitudes and demeanor seem suspicious. The Legionnaires' memories are fuzzy, but they dont have time to get their bearings as the ship is attacked by a military unit.
--Nardo as General with a grudge! -- The Progenitor in bondage gear with a marked interest in one of Legionnaires! -- Shikari and the Kwai as rebels! -- A Legionnaire/'Crew' member romance! -- Time Travel to pasts other than Earth's! Parallel Dimensional Excursions! Mind and memory games! -- At the end of it all, new Legionnaires will join! The senitient ship's offspring for one! The humanoid plant for another! One Legionnaire will decide to remain with the Crew! But will that be in the new universe (or whatever it is) or will the entire company accompany the Legionnaires to their home?

Chiana would have made a good Legionnaire herself-- with powers as poorly-defined and variable as Blok's.

Mysa as Zhaan, Dirk as John, Shady as Aeryn, Brin as D'argo? Legionnaires as the crew of Moya could be funky!
Zhaan-ing up Mysa could make her much more interesting, all alien spiritualism / mysticism with a dash of eroticism...

Brande's Eleven. A team of nearly a dozen Legionnaires, including the entire Espionage Squad, must go undercover and use their diverse talents to steal back filthy lucre stolen and held by a powerful crimelord whose fortified world lies outside of UP jurisdiction, requiring them to use stealth and subterfuge to reclaim his ill-gotten booty.

I was thinking of the lost legionnaires *all* being in the place of John Crichton, but I like the idea of casting them as the prisoners/crew aboard Moya, too.
I'm torn.
What about Jo as D'argo instead of Brin?

Ohhh- I like this! Reminds me of the first LSH story I remember reading! Or at least of the opening scene, to be more exact. It was Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #203, and a group of Legionnaires dressed in scalp-to-toe-black with roman numerals on their chests had to break into the Legion HQ. Maybe the undercover thieves (who'd have to include Ultra Boy and Spider-Girl) could find someone long missing from the LSH ongoing story. Like the original Inivisible Kid or Animal Lad or Apparition's third body...

I know that I started this list and really shouldn't steal from the rest of you but... What the heck!
Legion-GALACTICA!!!!! The Legion was once a mighty force of super-powered beings who protected Earth and the colonies against the race of sentient artificial intelligence/androids who are determined to destroy organic life in favor of their own, but no one knows what they really look like or even if they have humanoid shapes. Collectively, they are known as 'Brainiac'.
After being betrayed by one of their own (Querl Dox), the Legion is all but destroyed except for 10 to 20 of them, who must shepherd the remainder of humanity to a new home.
Meanwhile, Querl is still among them and oblivious to the fact that he is actually Brainiac-5.....
