Although Von Daggle was never established as an ancestor of Reep his black ops mission with Guy Gardener was an interesting read. Perhaps a NEW 52 Vril Dox could show up too...

Not here it won't. Black Ops Green Lanterns. Frankly I'd take the side of the villains over anything like that.

Did they pluck Von from a planet long ruined by the six minute war, or has all that gone too either before or after DCNu kicked in?

thothkins: secretly Von Daggle's cousin Rip Van Daggle, destined to sleep 1000 years until the next decent DC comic appeared.

LSH feels like Warner Entertainment's old car that doesn't run anymore, and they are just cannibalizing it for parts.

Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

A beautiful car of the future being cannibalised by third generation survivors from a Mad Max movie. They don't know how it worked, but there are bits of it that they scavenge for other, simpler machines but mainly because they are shiny.

The Green Lantern Corp is not a super-hero group, they are a police/military organization. They don't play by the same rules super-teams are expected to. DC wants to strengthen this point because Marvel's equivalent is going to be everywhere soon.

I may be a bit behind in GL, but the DC wiki says "Green Lantern is a superhero and an intergalactic police officer in the DC Universe."

That's how I see them. Certainly Hal Jordan. He's a super hero and police officer. The Guardians' intergalactic beat cop.

If they are now some self appointed military force roaming the universe subverting systems with a Black Ops team, then they are more villainous than the pretty straight forward foes that Jordan normally comes up against. If Jordan is aware of these factions in his organisation, and does nothing, then he's lost a lot of the character I grew up with too.

One of biggest continuity mistakes I thought DC had years ago was when they brought in Legion alien bad guys into present day with the Invasion series. At the time I loved it but now I think they should have left them in the future. Not that I will read this but I also think it's a mistake. There's so many other alien races used in the past that could be used as well.

Edit: BTW. What ever happened to the Reach? The alien creators of Blue Beetle. Supposedly they were so powerful they even made the Guardians pause.

From their wiki page:

Quote
In The New 52, the Reach locate and initiate an attack on Blue Lantern Corps' home world of Odym intending to defeat the Blue Lantern Corps and allow their HiveMasters to feast upon the Blue Central Power Battery which will "slake their hunger for eons".[5] The Reach attacked, with an overwhelming force of 5 battle fleets. The Blue Lanterns fought valiantly but were overmatched. The other New Guardians, led by Kyle Rayner, (Green Lantern 2814.4) arrived and lent their might to the battle, but discovered that the Reach had cocooned over half the planet during the battle. With Odym lost, the Blue Lanterns continued the fight, but Green Lantern finally convinced Blue Lantern leader, Saint Walker to evacuate the remaining Blue Lanterns rather than perish. The Blue Central Power Battery was apparently lost to the Reach.[6]"

Boy. There sure are a lot of all-powerful alien forces out there...!

You probably wouldn't be very happy with the Alpha Lanterns either.

Q: "Can The Upcoming Durlan War Revive Interest In The Legion?"

A: For me, so long as this current regime is in charge of DC Comics, then NOPE.

Here's an analogy that might help. Instead of thinking of them as compared to Navy Seals (military), think of them as SWAT (police).

No the alpha lanterns were a nonsense too. As were a number of Lantern ideas in the last couple of decades.
