Archie meets Zombies. The incredible Francisco Francavilla.
Best impulse grab in ages. I'm in forever based on the first issue alone.
Don't walk. Run. Buy it.

It was sold out when I got to my CBS the week it came out, but my lovely and talented comic book guy got me a copy the next week, despite it being sold out at Diamond! Look forward to reading it when I get caught up to that point. Can't BELIEVE they got Francesco Francavilla, who I think is arguably the current best artist in comics, to do this!!! Totally missed him being involved in this when the project was announced! One thing I love about him is the sheer diversity of material he'll take on. An Archie book, albeit one with a horror bent, is another feather in FF's cap! I wonder how long this is supposed to last? Is it ongoing? And how long is FF involved? I wonder about the length of it especially as, I believe, a major cast member falls in the first issue (if what I saw on the flip-thru is accurate)!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Well, actually every single part is awesome.

I heard the Betty arc is pretty good too! And Sabrina is criminally underused in the Archive-verse IMO. I know she sort of has her own franchise, but I love it when she interacts with Archie and the gang.

This is one of my favorite books, and it's only one issue in.
LOVED IT!
Taking characters that we all know, and have known for years and throwing them into this situation is an awesome idea.
The second issue cannot come soon enough. Thankfully I have Ash and the Army of Darkness to keep me company as well.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Finally got and devoured the second issue.
This is gonna pass TWD as my fave Zed comic (it already has) if the quality holds up.
More and more zeds are walking around. All the characters seem like realer versions of the ones I read as a kid. I wish they could release this book faster...but with art and story like this, I am glad to wait and give them all the time they need.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Even the back-up story by Gray Morrow from the 70's was awesome!
#2 kept things rolling. As someone who doesn't know much about Archie beyond the main 4-5 characters, I'm enjoying meeting the others this way.
Francavilla's zombie Jughead--complete with his mind bending coloring-- is worth it alone.

Finally got to issue #1--it was jaw-droppingly AWESOME! (Jawesome? ) I think it's a genius idea to set a zombie scenario amidst a group of well-established characters. I know it's been done before with Marvel Zombies (which I've never read), but having it in what was a comedy dynamic with relationships we all know and love to some extent is simply brilliant. Imagine if someone did this with "Friends"..... (Okay, yeah, none of them would last an hour, but maybe Chandler would finally come out already with no tomorrow in sight! ) Excellent, and I love Francesco Francavilla's take on the cast and seeing his moody, inspired work on a property so traditionally bright and shiny!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Issue 4 has been out for a few weeks.
It was gut wrenching to read. The opening scene, and what Archie found nad had to do was just unbelievable.
This is such a good series. Because for me, even if I haven't read Archie for decades, these characters have always been there, and you get a feel that you just kinda know them. Read a lot of their books over the years, and seeing this all unfold is fascinating in a way that most zombie stories are not.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Haven't gotten or read it yet, but I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague because that's how much I care about this series right now. It's get me totally hooked! I'm even wondering about other Archie stuff I might enjoy since the guys running things seem to have their heads together so well.

I only recently got 1 and 3 and wanted to read them all together. Now I have another issue to go with them. Yay!

So it looks like Archie is smartly doing a Sabrina the Teenage Witch series in the same horror vein as Afterlife with Archie. Awesome, I say: I am so there.
Just read #5 last night and this series continues to please. Loving every panel.

Wow! This will make TWO Archie comics on my pull! :nod; Heck, I might get the upcoming 'Death of Archie' arc in Life with Archie, too! Or I might wait to see if there's a collection of the whole series, so I can read the entire story.....
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Yea, I'm suddenly giving *anything* Archie is doing a serious thought. It's so rare to be on the ground floor when there is genuine magic in the air but we may just be Johnny on the spot. Here's hopin'.

AWA is still chugging along mightily with #8, While SABRINA #2 *FINALLY* shows up... I don't normally have a lot of patience with long-overdue books, but SABRINA was definitely an exception. It seemed like a much denser read than AWA, but for all the right reasons. I hope they're on track now toward keeping both titles as regular as possible. Good, creepy fun in the Archieverse!

Sabrina awaits in my reads pile. I've fallen behind in Archie. That was a sentence I never thought I'd type At least I spotted it, and the guy behind the counter didn't have to shout "Hey Man! Your Sabrina comic is in!" I didn't want another Young Romance incident...

I mentioned this to Pov on FB, but I loved the latest issue of Sabrina. It was a long ass wait but ultimately worth it. It was delightfully macabre and weird with some pretty lush and beautiful artwork (especially those colors!).
Really unlike anything else at the moment, it's fresh and new, yet a bit of a throwback to more suspense-driven horror of older eras.

I've forgotten what was in the first issue now. I'll need to reread that before issue 2...

I hve seen snippets online that really make me want o buy it. There was quite a delay for the last issue though. I just hope the creative team sees it through to the end. Would be terrible if the story never finishes.

AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE may be singlehandedly saving my interest in comics. Just finished # 8 and loved it from start to finish.
Now, for CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA 2-3, which I bet will also rock.
Maybe Cobie this thread should become to new catch all for the totally revitalized ARCHIE line?
OH!! And I totally bought ARCHIE VS PREDATOR 1-3. SHIT you not! WIll read after SABRINA!
