Who says it has to be a hero? Shirley there are legendary villains with funny feet, such as Omega.

Chicken Lad - Legion reject with the power to sense fights and utterly avoid them. Plucked* from his time in some pointless mega crossover back to the 20th century. There he would become the template for a Darkseid mockery.
*sorry

There was one more panel relating to this in the annual, appearing a few pages before the others. A millennium away a certain Kryptonian feels the chill of something evil. I had wondered about the date used. But this might be Superman and not Superboy. The chill presumably being as the Superman mockery has been born in #289.

Wow thothkins, Klar Ken, and JimGallagher; you guys really seem to know your chicken! So, I've got just the song for you at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COMWwwv_MTk In fact, it proves that Chicken Lad was, indeed, from the late 20th or early 21st century.

If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

oh awesome, I loved their Sugar Water video when it came out. I now think that the Chicken Lad mockery threw off Darkseid's evil and allowedhimself to get hit by the debris.

A highly plausible supposition. The only rubble I have with it is that its a bit too hard hitting, in my opinion. Seriously, though, I love the Sugar Water video. In fact, I only came across Cibo Matto last week for the first time, and am absolutely entranced with their work-to-date.

My pleasure. I'll keep an eye open for your Cibo Matto thread.
