So...if you had the Anywhere Machine...what would you do with it?

I won't lie. I, admittedly, might wind up breaking a few privacy laws. But I'd also like to do stuff like go to other planets or something.

How bout you?

I think we may need to clarify what the Anywhere Machine was, for those only familar with the forum smile - it was an astral-projection machine invented by Brainiac 5.1 (as he was then!) which allowed you to intangibly send your thoughts to a given location (or, in one case, into someone's mind). It was possible to visibly communicate with people at the other end if you wished, but not to physically do anything there.

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Well all the fun would be if no one knew this machine actually existed.

I think I'd put on a Jesus robe and go visit Westboro, lol.

Thank you, dear. That's very helpful. Though you didn't say what you'd do!!

Hmmm... I don't actually know the machine from the comics, so, although I actually have an idea about what I'd like to do, I don't actually know if the machine would work this way.

What I was thinking would be a great use for an "astral projection" type machine would be the exploration of otherwise inaccessible physical places... like the ocean floor, or deep underground caves.

The thing I was wondering about though... is light. Like... does an Anywhere Machine projection have the same sort of sensory limitations as the body... i.e. if it is a place too dark to see with the eyes, would an Anywhere Machine projection also be unable to see? Or does this astral form transcend physical limitations like that?

I would assume that it transcends physical limitations. There's an issue where Spark and Violet go into Kinetix's HEAD and look at her memories with the Anywhere Machine. That being said, I doubt the darkness of an ocean floor would pose much of a problem. XD

That was how it was introduced! [Specifically, 'visiting' a planet with "surface temperatures in the five-to-six-figure range" to find a reason to stymie McCauley drilling on it. Vi found a micro-civilisation, the AWM let them see what she saw, McCauley's fracking was permanently put on hold and everybody won. Except M'Onel, who had unpleasant memories of "can look but not touch". And McCauley, of course.]

There's a very rare Philippine graphic novel I've been searching for since last year called the Mythology Class. First thing I'd do with the Anywhere Machine is go out searching for a copy of it to read!!! Of course, if it's on someone's shelf I'll have to get creative...
