Jurgens' JLI didn't sell that badly, though - JLI v3 #12 had icv2 estimated orders of 28261.
[For context, the same month LSH v7 #12 had orders of 18907, and Legion Lost v2 #12 saw the title cancelled @ orders of 16066.]

Maguire out before #12, one of writers out by #13 (prob DeMatt).

I say 12 issues; my memory says that is usually about where Giffen starts to get bored.

I'm not sure what the reasoning was, but it wasn't sales. I recall the internet sites like Bleeding Cool being really mystified by that one.

I'm giving this book a shot. I love the creative team...and who knows, it might actually be better than anyone thinks. They seem to have something up their sleeves here...and I want to see what it is.
To be fair though, I think it will hit the 30 - 35 issue range.
To also be fair, whole I am going to fill in the gap, I stopped reading the Legion books with the respective 0 issues. The cancellation was coming...no matter what they may have had planned with this book.
Active LMB character is still Beast Boy.

Honestly, I don't care enough even to make a prediction.
First comic books ever bought: A DC four-for-47-cents grab bag that included Adventure #331. The rest is history.

The series will probably do okay. The creative team is popular. Heck, even I liked the first couple of dozen issues of their original Justice League run. It was fun, as a comedic team book. However, it wasn't what I wanted from a Justice League title, which is when it began to get old for me. I have very specific ideas of what certain team books should be. The Bwahaha League was not an adequate substitute for the Justice League, just as most of the current Avengers books haven't fulfilled my idea of what the Avengers should be. I'm probably just too picky

The JLI era was certainly a different flavor of JLI. I wonder though, how well they would have done if they'd cut all ties to the JLI and just had them form their own team? Right now they're so tied into the JL mythos (with so many Satellite Era members joining THAT version too!) that it's hard to separate the two ideas.

The series will probably do okay. The creative team is popular. I don't know about cancellation, but I'll say three issues before one of the team leaves (either the book or the company.) Nothing about these folks in particular, things just keep changing so fast.

I will probably check out, mainly because all the DC titles I had been collecting have been canceled at this point and my pull list is really short. I find myself drifting away from DC and towards Dark Horse and Image tiles.
If I like the book, it will last 8 issues. If I don't care for it, 36 issues.

So, Giffen says the readers will not really know what is going on-- or even who the Justice League members really are-- until at least after the first yeat. "Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and the Flash -- they've appeared in the New 52. They're not who you think they are, but they're everyone you think they are. It's really weird. There's not a lot I can say without giving away tons -- but I can pretty much guarantee that once you think you know who they are, you'll be wrong. You'll probably be wrong a couple of times in the first year of the book. Of course, the reason you'll be wrong is this is what we'll be telling you, and we're venerate liars." http://www.hitfix.com/news/justice-league-3000-has-some-surprises-in-store-for-the-dc-universeSo I'm betting on cancellation at issue #10.
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

I'm loving this thread. Those of you predicting early exits for someone on the team though, remember that Giffen, DeMatteis and Maguire are ALL very much DC-centric talent, and have enjoyed working together in the past.
I'd actually be curious who thinks how many issues Maguire will last before a fill-in.... (My guess: 3)

I wonder what having Maguire on the book means for World's Finest? Is he leaving that book? Cuz I doubt he can do two, and Perez won't be doing it alone, I wouldn't think...

Not knowing who's who for a year sounds like early cancellation to me, based on past experience. Mystery and a surprise ending works in novels (if well written), but comic readers seem to have low tolerance for this sort of thing. Of course, Giffen could pull it off with aplomb... So who are they really? Maybe it's Archie, Reggie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica.

I wonder, why would there be a mystery as to who they are? Will there be time travel involved, and we have to guess as to which 21st century heroes were shunted forward in time? I mean, this is taking place in a new 31st century set in a reality different from the Legion's. As far as I know there haven't been any other New 52 books set in the 31st century. So why should they be characters we already know unless they're from the 21st century?

18 issues. DC seems committed to a year, but after that I don't see much support, especially if sales take a predicted nose-dive. With the disappointing second week fall of Man of Steel's box office and the ciritcal reception of Green Lantern, the popularity of the Justice League books will depend on the anticipation of a Justice League movie. If that gets delayed of postponed indefinitely, then editorial support for "fringe" titles like this would quickly evaporate.

I wonder, why would there be a mystery as to who they are? Yeah, this part doesn't make much sense. The 'big reveal' in the Thunderbolts came at the end of the first issue, and that series was hugely successful. The only book I can remember that kept the heroes identity a secret from the readers for any length of time was an Image title (Shadowhawk?) that didn't exactly burn down the house. An author coming out and telling you that he's not only deliberately playing coy with you, but that you'll be wrong no matter what you guess? That seems less like a challenge to me and more like a 'Who is Monarch?' situation, where, if some fans guess the correct identity of a 'mystery' character, DC editorial will just change who it is to make them retroactively wrong again. 'They are everyone you think they are' sounds almost like these people will be some sort of archetypal Leaguers. 'Superman 3000' is some sort of composite of everyone who has been Superman, from Earth 2 Kal-L to Superman's Red and Blue to future Conner maybe even with a dash of Ultraman from the Crime Syndicate, as if Hypertime or the Multiverse or whatever collapsed and all the Supermanalogues got smooshed into each other. But that's automatically wrong, because Keith Giffen said so.

I really don't care for the "you'll be wrong no matter who you guess" thing, and the "we're liars" kinda negates that and everything else he says anyway.
It also bugs me when paid writers use incorrect words. The type of liar he's referring to is inveterate.
