I don't know how much of a writer she is... it says on the cover of the first entry "Edited by Elizabeth Dummel from high quality wikipedia entries"... take that as you will. If all she's doing is mixing other peoples' wiki pages, I don't know how original the overall works are going to be.

It really is one of the more bizarre scams out there, cutting and pasting Wikipedia articles and then selling them as a book.

Does Wikipedia have a stance on people using their stuff for profit?

I'm not sure. BiblioBazaar specializes in publishing relatively cheap versions of out-of-copyright books, so I would assume this kind of stuff must fall in the same domain.

She's done the same thing for travel guides, culled info from wikipedia, several books at amazon. And here are some further comments on this "busy little bee".

Yep. As long as you fulfil the conditions of their licence (which amount to "credit the writer(s)" and "if you make any changes, you have to let other people reuse your version in exactly the same way"), you're free to do as you will. I've got a bit of a "wha-huh?" at the page lengths there though. What articles have been turfed into the XS book to make it up to 172 pages?

Judging from the one book of this sort of genre that I've seen, they'll probably attach a bunch of more general articles on the Flash family, on the Legion, etc. Basically anything that's linked from the original article is fair game.

I would think it's more likely that DC would have a problem with these.

Quite probably, especially since it uses DC art on the front cover. Usually, IIRC, these books avoid using copyrighted art since it's far more dubious legally to do so.
