Legion precursors?

So, here's the thing: I've been reading the John Byrne Fantastic Four Omnibus (originally $125, but scored at a Free Comic Book Day sale for $30) and I got to thinking about what a Legion Omnibus might look like, i.e. what would I include and how far into the oeuvre would 1,100 pages get me?

Anyway, while considering what should be in such a volume, I started thinking about precursors. We all know about the "Twice-Told Tales" (Superman #80, Adventure Comics #191 and #195) and the Wonder Woman Time Trapper retcon. However, somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I seem to recall an early Legion precursor. It was an Adventure Comics story about Superboy meeting a team of team heroes from the future or outer-space. They were called the Intergalactic Law Patrol, or something like that.

But, Google as I might, I can't find reference online to ANY Legion precursor. Does anybody else recall the issue to which I'm referring, or did I dream the whole thing?

I believe that what you're talking about has been discussed here before, but I as I recall it turned out not to really be much of a Legion precursor.

I tried to search for that thread, but that function does not appear to work, at least for me.

Instead, I started to search the Adventure Comics blog and found this: Superboy meets a boy from Titan where everybody has telepathic powers. Of course, in this story, Titan is a moon of Jupiter. WTH?! I wonder if Joe Letterese did that on purpose, just to see if Uncle Mort was paying attention?

The Legion Checklists thread lists many of the precursor Legion tales, including the Kral story.

Ah... I believe the "Interplanetary Vigilantes" from Adventure #237 are what you are looking for.
