I observed today that -- thanks to modern marketing - almost everything we buy has some kind of scent added. At least, almost everything I buy. Looking around the apartment, it appears that I have a preference for fruity smells with some occasional floral thrown in.
1. Shampoo - Mandarin Mango 2. Bubble Bath - Cucumber Melon 3. Hand Soap - Cucumber Melon 4. Kitchen Candle - Hibiscus Papaya 5. Reed diffuser - Lemon Coconut 6. Mr. Clean - Orange 7. Car Scent - Jasmine
How are things smelling at your place?

At the moment, like cat poop. But it's completely organic.

I prefer lavender-scented everything.

Jerry, I'm so glad that you of all people posted this, because - as another person who recently quit smoking - I'll bet you noticed this as well.
Holy cow... do most people around me smell artificial!
When I was smoking, I had no idea what the people around me smelled like... my sense of smell was shot. But after a little bit of not smoking, it's all I can do to not gag on the overwhelming smells of perfumes... and body spray... and hair products... that just about everyone in my office wears.
Honestly, as stinky as I now realize I must have been from cigarettes... all those grooming scents are overpoweringly worse to me.

Why do you think I've repressed the memory of meeting you?

I've never been one to cologne or aftershave or use Axe, etc. I shower every day, put "fresh" scent Mennen under my pits, use some unscented body powder where needed and then am unleashed to the world!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

When I was a freshman in college, an [older] girl told me that it was better to smell clean than to smell like cologne. I've always tried to follow that standard.
Since this thread is called "scents", it reminds me of a weird quiz I took asking "what's the weirdest smell you like?" My answer was gasoline. (Which is really the smell they add to it).

I prefer natural scents myself. Blaze has this smell that just drives me nuts whenever I get a whiff.
I also like the scents of lemongrass, cinammon, orange peel and vanilla...

I rarely use cologne myself, just antiperspirant. I need the latter though, because I sweat really easily! Sadly, I can't even wear a jacket to look cool. One thing I loved about being in LA? The only time I sweat was when I was jogging or working out! Here, I just cross the street during summer and my shirt gets all wet with sweat

I generally use unscented stuff, force of habit I guess from when I worked in a cubicle farm doing tech support. As for smells around me, I usually don't notice them unless they are exceptionally strong. The gases I am exposed to at work have killed my sense of smell (between 10 to 20 parts per million of H2S deadens the sense and I am generally exposed to much higher levels than that) and it takes 4 or 5 days away from the plant for smells to return. On the upside, if you fart I probably won't notice

I'm picking up more smells without the cigarettes, but not in a bad way. It's kind of fun and interesting as opposed to irritating.

One thing I appreciate a lot about eating fruit is the various sweet, "natural" smells that come wafting out
