So Spike's given name is Cecil? His mom tried to give him the nickname Lambie Pi, but Spike stuck when his dad yelled after getting a hammer to the foot. Sugar, of course, preferred to call him Doll-Boy. These babies are really out of control. There's a lot more cartoon violence here than I remember from reading these stories as a kid. I guess the cuteness covered up these tykes sociopathic tendencies. Sugar takes a dip in red paint and wood chips, and it's all true love the rest of the way in.

In their second adventure, we meet Sugar's Uncle Charley - or at least his legs. He rides a putt putt (motorcycle). He also delights in tossing Sugar up into the air. Spike observes that he's crazy, and "Sugar could get busted that way." Eventually Spike gets in on the fun, and the kids toss a toy teddy bear into a light fixture. Sugar, Spike, Charley, the teddy bear and the cat all end up standing in the corner. Unjust, I tell you.
