Welcome back, everyone, to W.F.L.U.! Forget 98.6, keep it right here on the Flu, 102!
Exnihil, here, deep into the third day of a "Down with the Sickness" marathon, spinning the hits that simultaneously chill you out and bring you to a fever pitch!

Man, this flu epidemic has been killer this year. I know lots of people from all over that are coming down with it.
Hope you're feeling better, Ex!

My sister got her flu shot early, like the rest of us, but she was sick as hell Christmas through New Year's. At the time they were saying she didn't actually have the flu, just "flu-like symptoms", but it ran its course EXACTLY like the current strain of flu that's got so many down. Way to go, "Dr. Oz"...

I too got the flu shot and still managed to get what I'm pretty damn sure was the flu. Granted, they do say that it doesn't prevent all forms of the flu, but damn...this was rather useless. Glad it was free from my workplace. XD

I didn't get the flu shot because of my fear of being injected with CIA nanonite spies.

I don't think modern medecine does much for the flu, except give incredibly flu-like symptoms to people. And maybe nanonite spies.
Rest and chicken soup and lots of sympathy to you Ex! I trust you're over the worst of it by now.

I have the flu now, and I had another viral infection that hit my eyes earlier this year.
Sigh. Sometimes all modern medicine really can do is alleviate symptoms.

No flu, but just got over the most annoying cold. It was one of those "never gets all that serious but lasts forever" deals.

I sympathize, EDE. I especially hate it when the cold comes with a sore throat - I find those the hardest to deal with.
I have a friend whose colds linger for a couple of months. We keep joking about all the trees she kills with the amount of tissue she uses.

This was primarily a sore throat with a bit of congestion/sneezing. Just enough to slow me down a bit.

Glad you're feeling better now. Daily life can be tough enough without these pesky ailments making it worse!

I've been running a fever sporadically for almost two weeks now. It usually flares up after lunch and goes away by late afternoon. I know I should probably consult a doctor, but...

Do you happen to have a siesta shortly after lunch, but fail to sleep in the shade by any chance?
Perhaps you simply need to consult an awning manufacturer.

Alas, I wish I had time to nap at work. Part of it is probably temp changes - airconditioned office, sweltering heat when I go to the bank, sudden rainfall, possible bird droppings...

Well, if you're going to gaze open mouthed at the sudden rainfalls, when there are bird droppings falling around...

Please, rain is such a common occurrence here. I only gawk at snow.

Probably in the same way we gawk at sunlight What is the fiery ball in the sky? We must worship it, and present it with offerings!

You wouldn't be melting if you took a bath more often.
Just to keep things on topic, I spent much of the day sleeping again. I guess fighting the illness on a daily basis is no substitute for a long, sustained rest.
Of course, because I spent nearly the entire morning, afternoon and evening sleeping, now I can't fall asleep again...

Honestly, it's not as though I smell as bad as Bootsy*... I'm the same. I slept for a few hours this afternoon, so will be up late this evening. *Thread Crossover

If only posting on LW could cure the flu/fever entirely.
I don't know if it's the weather, the extreme pre-holiday rush of work, or both. I'm guessing it's both.
