I finally found a copy of issue #15. I was surprised to read that Light Lass is "the only Legionnaire with a twin." Lightning Lad appears in the next panel.
It reminded me of a reboot issue ( a secret origins, IIRC) that listed Garth and Ayla as "identical twins." Please tell me I am not the only one that finds this a scientific impossibility...

You aren't the only one... unless they're flashing back to the Silver Age where Ayla could successfully disguise herself as Garth?

I'll just say that she misspoke because.

1) She doesn't know Garth as well as Ayla because a) he's always away, b) Saturn Girl doesn't let him talk to the other girls.

2) Something else else cultural changes the way she uses certain words because she comes from a planet of duplicates.

3) Also there are no males in her matriarchal society so she naturally ignores the relationship from Garth's perspective.

Identical twins can *express* as different genders, due to hormone imbalances in the womb, and surgery can either correct or define the gender in either direction.

The eternal question of Ayla Ranzz. Is she meat, or is she cake? Have we discovered the real reason she and Brin couldn't work it out? Was he threatened by having a girlfriend who was more man than he?

...as opposed to everything else in LSH (and comics in general) being 100 percent scientifically accurate?

LSH dealings with Winathian twins has a long history of ignoring any distinction between identical and fraternal twins. Personally, I find neglecting such an elementary concept to be somewhat grating.

Whereas I get way too much enjoyment from the idea of Ayla as a sweet transvestite.

Who needs 11th hour 'edgy' plotlines about ProFem, when you've got a Golden Age example of a 'girl' dressing up in a skintight leotard and fooling all of her brothers best friends into thinking she was a dude?

If that's true, that certainly says a lot about Ultra Boy knowing what Ayla's like in the morning
