Welcome threads.

People join, other people welcome them. Mostly the same four or five people. Mostly the welcomee doesn't even post a thanks to his welcome thread. My own hard won welcome thread lasted until a second page (barely), which seems well above average.

All those threads, cut down in the prime of their lives. Never given a chance to shine. To die, slow, smoldering deaths, forgotten in the depths of the archives.

But it doesn't have to be that way! These threads can be saved!

Just go to paypal and $50 to my email address, and I will personally use this money to post to forgotten welcome threads, giving them the posts they need to survive and thrive in this competitive message board environment. $50 is enough money to keep a thread alive for an entire year, that's less than 14 cents a day! Just imagine how happy all those little threads will be.

This is truly the only way you can buy love.

Are you related to Hi-Risk von Tingle, by any chance?

And if I send in my $50, will the thread send me a personal message?

Ah, welcome threads.

I once posted on every single welcome thread that came my way.

But these days…I just can’t do it. If there were a few here, a few there, maybe…but when there is just so many, I’m overwhelmed! Is there really more people joining every day than ever before?

Mess, by having a welcome thread that reached page 2, you’re ahead of the game!

And I’ll pay you $50 *not* to bump them ever! laugh They take up all the fun space of the MMB!

Agreed. There's too many from people we never ever hear from.

You can pay me $50 to join welcome threads, but otherwise, I'm a boycotter.

For $50... why don't you just name a thread after them. You can send them an official certificate that shows that the thread is registered in the official Thread Registry... of Space. You'll have to email them a web navigation chart so that they can find their personal thread... day or night. You'll make a killing. But only if you act within the next ten minutes, because thread supplies are dwindling fast. Everybody's doing it.

I bet not even Ms. Cleo saw this one coming.

*cough* No, of course not, whatever gave you that idea.

If we did that, it would divert funds from needed Thread Salvation purposes. You wouldn't want starving threads, would you?

Yes, and American is preferred, but Paypal converts, and I'm desperate enough to take most anything, *cough* I mean, I'm willing to work with whatever currency is convenient for you!

That sounds promising, but I'm not seeing how I can make tons of money by not doing something for %50. I mean, sure, You can pay me $50 and I won't, but then everyone else gets me not doing it for free. That's hardly fair. No, I'm sticking with the original plan.

I would bet that most people should already have a welcome thread named after them, and those that don't can certainly pay me to create one for them! (I see some less entreper..., entrepanu... enterprising people have been giving away welcome threads for free!) And Ms. Cleo couldn't see the DA prosecuting her, so I wouldn't worry about her.

Given my current state of finances.... What do you want? I can get you a fine copy of Legion of Super-Heroes #1. Hey, it could go up in value! You could make a fortune! Supplies are limited!

I was merrily making my way to the post office with $50 in hand ready to post to your good self unfortunetly the route took me past a pornographic book store. Would $50 worth of used porn aid your cause?

I'm willing to take any kind of donation, especially... I mean, even if it's porn. I'll *cough* resell it to raise cash.

Or something.

You seem to have developed a cough in the course of this thread, Mess. Not coming down with something contagious, I trust?

I know you're joking, but I wouldn't do it. This was something of an issue a few months back.

Better make sure it's "compatible" porn, PB.

It would hardly be the first time one of my jokes got me in a bit of trouble. :-)

If it doesn't work for me, I've got a friend. :-)

Then I don't see why they would be jealous.
