That design on Cos was my first realisation that Saturn Girl's pink bikini did nothing for me...

The pink bikini debuted in Action #392 (1970), where it was also worn by Sun Boy!

Minor correction there, EDE. That was red with white collar , gloves and trim atop the boots.

it was drawn the same but alternately colored red and dark pink (almost fuschia) with white boot trim and no collar in its next appearance, Superboy 184 ("One Legionnaire Must GO!")

We get closer to the classic pink bikini in Superboy 190 ("<strike>Follow</strike> Murder the Leader!"), though Imra still sports white trim atop the boots.

The classic solid pink bikini finally shows up in S/LSH 197.

Eh, I cheated... I remembered the original fan design, but had to look up the rest.

Luckily, they were all in one shortbox of comics-- DC8 in the Povvy decimal system.

I was ignoring all those details because I thought the really important point was how goofy Sun Boy looked in the outfit!

It should be noted than in last week's episode of DRAWN TOGETHER, Foxy Love donned an outfit not too dissimilar from Imra's bikini!

Y'know, of all the guys back then, Dirk is the one who least surprises me that he would wear a man-kini.

Legion bikini History buffs take note:

Cos first dons his man-kini in Superboy/LSH # 215, which is also notable for being the issue in which he savagely attacks Light Lass on a Braalian religious holiday.

Don't feel like digging for it, but I *think* Tasmia's bikini also first appeared in S/LSH 197, in a crowd scene. She definitely had it by S/LSH # 200.

Careful Lash, or the Cos Fans 'round here will declare a Braalian 'Day of Reflection' and show you the back of their hands.

At least he got away with it... Brainy had to alter Projectra's for his "Projectur" disguise. I guess he should just be thankful this took place before Cockrum's redesign for Jeckie...

LASH - I think Shady's bikini debuted in S/LSH 200 coz she had worn her original outfit for the last time in "Attack Of The Sun Scavenger" (SUPERBOY 191)

Imra's pink bikini and disco boots brought me to the Legion! You'll all forgive me if I always think of it as my "favorite" uniform for her! Hubba hubba!

Well, I'm a big fan of Mon-El's puffy sleeves/big buttons look, and Ultra Boy's costume is a classic.

Star Boy's starfield costume was a real trendsetter for comics in general, and Garth's Cockrum costume inspired the entire LEGIONNAIRES/reboot era of costumes, which endured for a decade-plus.
