I see Scott has not told anyone yet, so it's up to me to reveal this sad fact. Marriott, in it's infinite *cough* wisdom *cough, cough* has seen fit to lay the smack down on Scott. As a manager he is being forced to either give up his position, or cut his waist-length beautiful hair. So, yesterday, Scott made the decision on the side of practicality, i.e. he is the only one working and bringing in food and keeping a roof over our heads. He presented himself to a Great Clips salon in a strip-mall next to our grocery store, and had his lovely hair showrn off, completely. Scott donated the over two foot length ponytail to the 'Locks of Love' program. His hair will be made into a wig for a child under the age of 18 with a skin condition which leaves them permanently bald. Scott now has a shaved head, worthy of a Marine Corps recruit. Oh Goddess, I kept waking up all night because I couldn't feel his silky strands of hair wrapped around my fingers or against my skin. I protested this hair cut, and I am still in shock, but I am also trying to get used to my man's new look. I am proud of him for his mature decision, and for donating his hair to help a sick child. Way to go honey !!

Stay strong, my bald brother! REPRESENT! (And you are the coolest, Scooter. BIG 's ! I find it admirable that you took Marriott's draconian measures and made some "lemonade" for a sick kid somewhere... possibly kidS )

Good move donating the locks Scott. A good friend of mine did that when he joined the Corps in 2001. Sorry they forced your hand in cutting it, but at least the hair will go on to help someone who needs it.
Caroline, you'll get used to it in time. You may even come to like it in the long run.

Wow, does your head feel alot lighter now that you got the haircut? Bet you look great though!
I agree with the above and kudos for donating your hair to locks of love. Good charity.

Caroline took pictures of the whole thing. Made me pose before at home and then pictures as it was getting cut off. Even made me pose holding my ponytail afterwards. Maybe, maybe, I'll post the pics later tonight. I just don't want to upset anyone's stomach. I'm still not sure about how I feel with it short.
Except for one thing. Its friggin' cold! After a decade of long hair I forgot how much it kept me warm in the winter.

I know the feeling Scott. I had long hair through high school and college, and finally decided to cut it off a year or so after graduating from college. It took a lot of getting used to, but after awhile I adjusted.

I was going to share my story about waking up next to a Marine, but it turned out to be a completely different topic once I read this thread. Never mind

Scott: You're a great person regardless of the length of your hair. You prove that on a daily basis by providing us with Legion World and you more than proved it by thinking to donate your hair to a poor child who is suffering enough without having to deal with the lose or lack of hair. Bravo! Bravissimo!

I can understand Marriott's point to an extent, but at the same time I think the quality of work you do should be more important than the style of your hair.
At least some good came out of this with the hair donation.

I think Mariott's a bunch of fascist corporate Stepfords for having such a policy. It's amazing how individuality is only celebrated in history books these days. Rage against the machine and all that!
Meanwhile, you have food on the table and the honor of having helped a child. Not to mention the respect of Legion World.

That sucks Scott! I've never really had long hair, shoulder length at best, but I do remember seeing myself in the mirror after they shaved my head in boot camp and it was a memory I have to this day. Quite a shock. I can only imagine how tramatic it must have been. Sorry bud.

Hang in there Scott!
Downside: Hairless chihuahua/Mr. Bigglesworth shivering in winter Upside: You and Caroline get to play 'Alias' at night! You can be Sidney and change into groovy wigs and Caroline can be your Vaughn!

THOSE BAST...I'll watch my language. I used to work in the photo department at Disney's Cali. Adventure and I could have my hair color a certain color or have my hair a certain length (in that dept.) so I have to cut it and the stylist messed up, and by the time she finished "fixing" it, I looked like a lesbian.
My heart goes out to you.
And to show I bear no ill will, I, too, shall bestow a gift...

Sorry about your hair, Scott. I've lately been pushed to get a "real" job. By "real" job, it means working for some stupid corporation (a bank, in this case) and being required to wear dress clothes - including a sport coat! I've never had a job that required a sport coat! Also, no long hair and no side burns that go beneath the ears. These are among the reasons I hate corporations. I don't know, maybe I'll move to Brooklyn and get a job as a waiter.
