The only thing that I don't like about the trivia Vee, is it discourages people from participating. Personally, I don't want to run for leader, I just wanted to nominate someone and then vote for someone. With the trivia, it takes away the vote, which means most people won't want to be involved. At least, that's what I think smile . But I do think you and Quis should be involved in whatever process is decided, since you're the current leaders!

And Thora, your behind is looking very tight these days!

So, I'm like Totally visiting Legion World for the first time in like FOREVER, and I see that there's going to be an election! *excited squeal*

I kind of agree with Torsa or whatever her name is that a girl should be, like, the leader! *tee hee!*

So I'm going to like, nominate myself and stuff! *chirp of emphasis*

If I can take a moment to wrest this thread from the Alt-ID takeover (which is probably the same person posting, anyway,) here is what I have to say on the matter.

I don't really understand what the big fat hairy deal is in calling it the LMB leader versus the Legion World leader versus the Salami or the Ladybug League Leader, for that matter. Is a name change really going to assuage whatever hurt feelings occurred last time?

I think what WILL assuage the hurt feelings that occurred last time is only allowing people to nominate themselves, and then having a secret ballot election involving everyone who threw their hats into the ring. That way, the only opportunity for anyone to get their feelings hurt is at the final reveal of the election numbers, and if that happens, you shouldn't have thrown your hat in the ring in the first place. The polling forum is the best place to make that happen.

The trivia contest is a decent idea, but I think in the long run, it will be the same people time after time after time winning the contest. I know for a fact I wouldn't have a prayer of winning something like that.

As for having many positions available so that people don't feel left out... exactly how many meaningless, powerless positions do we need around here?

I think the LW Leader election was the most fun thing around here. But I never want to sit through a repeat of what happenned the last time we tried to do this.

Bah! No one would nominate me because of that stupid other head of mine!

I favor self-nominations!

I also think that a fun election without any problems would be the best way to forget about the last one.

Self-nominations is probably the best way to go, but I hope there is voting too, I want to be a part of it somehow!

Now I have to PM the candidate I wanted to nominate, with the hopes that we'll have a new election!

I don't mean to be a bitch, but Alt-ID's, will you please shut the hell up or move it to another thread? This is supposed to be a serious discussion of something that means something to various people around here.

(And yeah, I can't believe I'm wasting my breath scolding Alt-ID's.)

Kippers, I hope you'll be involved in the elections! It seems that a lot of people like the idea of self-nominations, so this might be the way to definately go.

The all around key to the whole thing should be to keep the fun-level at 100% and the logistics to a minimum.

Tempers ALREADY beginning to flare somewhat?

That doesn't bode well, I think.

Forgetting about the Election is probably best.

As is seen, carbon lifeforms are far too emotional to make efficient leaders.

Therefore, the only logical choice would be to vote Computo Jr.!

I agree with Lash. After reading through this thread, it appears that election stuff is pretty touchy and still has the power to hurt.

There's a great deal of latitude to post what we wish here, within the bounds of politeness and all-age concerns, but some topics seem to cause more trouble than they're worth. In real life I would say no way do you cancel an election but this board is not an exercise in democracy or defense of rights and free speech.

There have been a number of good ideas proposed here: the scavenger hunt/trivia challenge, the Who Killed Cobie mystery (nothing personal Cobie!!), and I'm always pleased to see the alt-IDs speaking up (I see they've moved to their own threads to carry on the debate). I think these ideas could be used for a time-limited challenge or contest, like the survivor games, with a champion declared at the end. Everyone who wished could participate in these.

And yet, I just may be any one, or even all three of these!

The only safe thing to do is to vote Sir Prize!!

Nothing against the trivia idea but I never really participate in those sort of threads. i like the idea of casting a vote after reading all the scandalous rumourmongering of the LMB Enquirer et all.

but fun has to be paramount. I still say have a vote over on the Yahoo forum. Post the results here, heck even over at the DC boards. but lets not fight over it.

It may have to be the way to go S Cat! Who would have thought you'd be the first alt ID deputy leader?!

You must be a legend among the alt ID community!

Holy Holovids, Faraway! Great idea - take the whole shebang over to the DC Boards - they won't know what hit them. Talk about a road trip! Of course, it might all get moderated away...

Maybe someone could nominate the Care Bears.
