Hello all,
I am a Long time Legion fan and have been Lurking around here for a good while.
I first started reading the Legion when I was in the first or second grade. ( im 38 now). The thing was, the name "Legionnaires" was a big word for me then. So i pronounced it "Legion Narries" like "Legion Faries" but with an "N". I will never forget the day I learned the right way to say Legionnaire, I was in the back seat of the car on the way home with my mom from the Local 7-11 and thanked her for getting me a copy of the "Legion Naries", thats when she laughed and corrected me. My heart kinda sank a bit that I had been reading it wrong for a few years, but to this day, when I come to that word I still read it as "Legion Narries" and smile a bit.

We didn't have 7-11s where I grew up. BTW, Welcome, petgoat! (I have to say that here. I boycott the regular 'Welcome' threads).
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Isn't it better to get a Slurpee when you're hot?

Makes me wonder how many words I'm mispronouncing because I never say them out loud.
Nice mom! Here's to all moms who buy their kids comics!

I was always an Icee person instead of the slurpee type. We could get them at the Dime store but the Dime store didn't carry comics.

Nice mom! Here's to all moms who buy their kids comics! My mom did a lot of that for me back in the 70s. Ironically, she didn't approve of Legion.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I bought my first comics from the Zippy-mart. They didn't have icee's, or slurpies, but they did have a lot of family planning aids, cigarette machines, and some real less than stellar, or even average class for convience store clerks.
God i miss the old days, when you could pull up to a pump and just get gas instead of being greeted by mind-numbed drones that demand a deposit on a fill-up and try to sell you "specials".
I have gladly turned into an old fart.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

And WELCOME Petgoat, I totally appreciate your not being "scared" or whatever to announce your presence here! Jump on in and have fun, there's fans of all Legion eras and creative teams here-- even the crappy ones

"Petgoat" -heh- do you respect Brainy? Welcome aboard and as you can see we're always happy to see someone de-lurk. So you started reading during the Grell era? About '72 or so? Ignore Lash's snarky comments - we do

the thing i remember most from my first Legion stories is that Cosmic Boy wore the black outfit. So I'm not sure who wrote those issues but I'm sure I'm about to find out.
"Petgoat" is a nick i picked up several years ago from a former supervisor at work. He told me "You're hard headed, got a stinkin ass and always in the way. You're more trouble than a pet goat." So it has nothing to do with Brainy's current situation. (even tho I loved that)
If there is an era I am Snarky about, it would have to be the Five Year Gap. It just wasnt MY Legion...
I could live with the nine panel grid but the direction of the story just didn't suit me.
I love Giffin's other stuff like the Justice League and even read Trencher, so nothing aginst him.
Thanks for the warm welcomes

Were Bates & Shooter still rotating stories at the time Cos' bustier first appeared (S/LSH 215)? I'm certain Shooter was still writing at that time, because his last contribution to Legion Lore was PULSAR STARGRAVE, who came several issues later.

Yeah, just what was up with that costume. Now, i have enjoyed Cockrum's redesignes(sp?) on the characters for decades, but all i could think of once i saw it was that Dave had seen Rocky Horror and it was his tribute to him, combining brad and Frankie, lol.
Then there was the fact that Cos and Night Girl were probably the "darkest" couple in the Legion. I mean, she only has strength in darkness, wears a black costume and has a black Beehive. Cos was wearing all black, and had black hair. They outdarked Shadowlass, lol.
Hmmm, this might explain why Cos slapped Ayla, the darkside was coming out in him.
Damn you, you kids! Get off my lawn or I'm callin' tha cops!

Welcome Petgoat, good to see you jumping right in!
On a side note--I blame Tharok for Cos's Grimbor-ish bustier and slapping Ayla! Poor Cos was driven to the path of TT b/c of Tharok!
