Well, this issue rocked!
I especially like the depiction of threeboot Colu.

Brainy finds the message he sent himself last issue, and takes a team to Colu to prevent it's destruction! There he finds the entire society degenerated, and using fire and stuff! We meet the threeboot Brainiac Four, who sings Coluan nursery rhymes! And Cos breaks into Brainy's lab!

Brainiac's arrogance and condescension toward Light Lass about the nature of her power made him seem thoughtful rether than petty. Compare to his condescension toward Dream Girl.
This was some of Waid and Kitson's best storytelling and best characterization thusfar.
Kandor -- I mean Colu -- and its population density issue is kind of weird, but not as weird as Bgtzl.

Barry knocked it outta the park with the art, and Waid's action-packed script was funny as always. The creative team have raised the bar for future issues with #7.
Threeboot Colu is awesome. It ties together the two technologies that the Brainiacs have always been known for since they were introduced.
I get the vibe that Saturn Girl may be the person on the team that Brainy respects. I think that she may be the compromise candidate to succeed ole Cos when the dust settles from the Brainy Cos feud.

One thing I liked is that the science-speak was reasonably well done for once. While realistically, the notion of "four fundamental forces" should be seen as incredibly antiquated 1000 years from now, it certainly beats trying to make something sound scientific by just throwing the word "quantum" in there...

Did anyone else notice that Ayla is from Winath? I thought it was an intriguing issue and it reminded me alot of issue 2, with a small group of Legionnaires visiting a members planet. The subplot with the other Legionnaires breaking into Brainy's lab was interesting also.

Good catch on Ayla being from Winath!
No doubt the breaking into the lab is what causes the team to split next issue. One of the members of Cos's little group was a bit of a surprise though...
Anybody figure out what the "another chilling secret about the United Planets-- a secret that could remove a key Legionnaire from the playing field" from the solicitation is supposed to refer to?

I know at one point I was pretty sure that I knew, but now I just can't remember. Odd, huh?

Which Legionnaire would be "removed from the playing field", though?
And it's interesting that Lemnos seems to know what going on in Legion HQ, even though he's on Colu...

I think Sun Boy is the one to leave. Waid has been setting it up all of this time. The part I liked best was Chameleon. We finally see how his antennae works in action and how it can be used to save the day. And, no one's mentioned the debut of the threeboot Koko yet, either. Without a doubt, this was the best drawn, most exciting issue to date of the new series. I can't wait for the next issue. Wow. Great job to everyone involved! FYI, for those who haven't gotten the issue, there's no letter column and Barry drew his heart out on every page. James (hi!) came back to help out as well. Maybe I should try to pick out his pages again.

Dumb question - Is Lemnos a secret member of the Legion?
You can never quit believiing in your dreams ... or yourself. ----- You GOTTA listen to Levi Kreis.

He's admitted he's helped them but he's not a member of the Legion as far as I can tell.
Hey, did anyone notice that Brainy seems to be a "dumb" member of his race?

Hi Guys Thanks for all the kind words about the issue! Sorry you're still having to be patient for Vi, but as you can probably tell from this issue - there is a plan and a back story that links Imsk and Colu...all will be revealed ...eventually

Sounds spiffy Barry.
Out of curiosity, any chance if you did a revised Mon-el, that he'd be linked to the Bgxtls?

I thought Ayla rocked in this issue. Finally her powers are more . . . powerful!
Maybe Shrinking Violet will be green when we finally see her . . . ? Will they have to change her name to Shrinking Chartreuse?
Tired of seeing Rokk in every issue and on every splash page. Where's Vi already?
How come the Legion can transmatter to Lallor and Orando, but they have to take a ship to Colu just so they can transmatter down to the surface? Is distance a factor? They can go a billion light years, but not 2 billion? Or maybe they're out of money for the transmatter thingy without Orando's $$$?

It was emphasized last issue how expensive the transmat technology is, so I'm guess the use of conventional space travel reflects the economic collapse of the United Planets, and in particular of the Legion's main source of income.

Everybody seems to forget that Lemnos has somehow been able to prevent transmatter access before. In my mind that's the obvious reason that Brainy took a starship to Colu--just to be on the safe side.
If the meek shall inherit inherit the Earth, then I at least want Baffin Island - and a property manager to work for me who is made of sterner stuff than I.

<BEWARE SPOILERS> Well I seem to be the lone voice here but I really didn't like this issue. I think this is partly to do with the fact that my expectations of what was going to happen in this issue (and what the cover had led me to believe) were really not met, and partly because 3 of the 4 main characters spotlighted are my 3 'least favourite' Legionnaires, but more than anything I think the problem was that I just found it to be totally *boring* all the way through. And I had to double-check to make sure there were actually 30 pages of story in this issue. I mean what happened...? Team goes to Colu. Team finds Colu in chaos. Team speak to Lemnos. The end. Tack on a couple of panels of Rokk breaking into Brainy's lab in order to set up next issue and that's the entirety of the plot! I'm beginning to agree with what the naysayers have been saying about this book (besides "nay" ) - it is too slow, there is not enough action, the characters are all fairly unlikeable, a lot of the changes do seem arbitrary and often it just doesn't feel like I'm reading the Legion. To make matters worse, while a bad story can often be improved upon by good art, Barry's pencils were unfortunately let down, as usual, by the *bland* colouring. I CANNOT understand why more people are not complaining about this. I mean, hold this book up against ANY OTHER comic book you own and you'll see what I mean. Look at how the backgrounds of every single panel are all one colour! Or how he uses a dull/shadowy effect nearly every chance he gets - even when they're outside flying in the sun! Or how every Coluan except Brainy and his Mum were the exact same colour! Or how Cosmic Boy now has brown hair because Jo, Gim, Lyle and Brin weren't enough brown-haired males on the team (thank God Val and Thom are now another race)! OK rant over. I'm sure Chris Blythe is a nice guy and I wish him all the best of luck with his career but I just wish we could get a different colourist for this book. I don't think he's suited. So as to end on a positive note, there was one thing I liked about this issue - Ayla's anti-gravity powers finally getting the respect they deserve. I've been saying for ages that a lot of writers and fans have underestimated how powerful and effective they can be so it was nice to see Waid lending credence to that. Hoping next issue is better.

What did you expect to happen?
I was honestly shocked they outed Lemnos this early.
I mean like on Naltor, saving the planet isn't enough for you?
